Simon Richard Baker III (born March 30, 1986) is an Aboriginal Canadian actor of Cree, Haida, and Squamish descent. He began acting at the age of nine with a starring role in Once in a Blue Moon. He gained early recognition as one of the leads in the television series North of Sixty before appearing in productions including Into the West, Buffalo Dreams, The Missing, Smoke Signals, The Sweet Hereafter, Shanghai Noon, I, Robot, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's Actors Conservatory, Baker has worked across film and television throughout his career. In addition to acting, he has hosted the CTV series First Story and the documentary series Native Planet, which explores Indigenous cultures around the world. Baker is of Squamish, Haida, and Cree heritage and is based in Vancouver, Canada.
