Season 1:
Onerva is sent against her will to a mental hospital. What does a young healthy student do among crazy women? However, Dr. Lundsten makes Onerva doubt her own sanity.
Dr. Lundsten applies her therapy to Onerva and delves into her childhood experiences. Onerva's fellow patient Ritva entices Onerva to escape with her, but can a pathological liar be trusted?
Dr. Lundsten hypnotizes Onerva and promises Onerva a home visit as a reward for the progress. At the hospital, Onerva meets her old professor, who tries to warn Onerva about the hospital's treatments.
Director Parvilinna visits the island and Onerva tries to get into a conversation with him. Vera and Onerva find out that there are no home visits from the island at all. Vera challenges Dr. Lundsten.
Onerva tries to get a message to Vera's family that Vera is isolated and drugged. Dr. Lundsten makes progress in his research, succeeding in manipulating Serafina's memories.
A memorial service will be held on the island. Dr. Lundsten manages to make Onerva believe she is responsible for the death of another patient. Ritva is worried about Onerva and invites Onerva's husband to the island.
Tuomas finds Onerva drugged and apathetic and wants to take her home. Lundsten manages to convince Tuomas that everything is fine. Ritva gets to see Dr. Lundsten's treatment method.
Tuomas finds out what Lundsten's treatment methods really mean. At the same time, an inspector arrives on the island and Dr. Lundsten is starting to get nervous.
