Season 1:
Julia and Maria are anxious to start production on their first deodorant commercial - however, their boss has requested they have the handsome young actors audition in their underwear.
A potential client being wined and dined by the girls has too much to drink, comes on to Julia, gets into her apartment, and passes out on her bed, which raises many eyebrows at the office.
Maria falls for a tall, handsome man and interprets his distant attitude as a sign he really cares. Then suddenly, a surprise gift puts everything into a different light.
Maria is visited by her father, who is fighting with her mother, and is forced along with Julia to show the two older people how to get along with each other.
A blackout hits New York City leaving Julia stranded on the thirty-third floor with a resourceful insurance salesman who romances her by candlelight.
Julia's neighbor, a Shakespearean actor, leaves a cat and plants in her care, leading to an unexpected encounter with the police.
Toni brings in a psychologist when she notices the office tension has become unbearable. The staff undergoes group therapy, leading to total honesty and they air their grievances with one another which results in a new set of problems.
Maria and Julia face a test of friendship when Maria moves in with Julia while her apartment is being painted.
Julia discovers, after an exorbitant rent increase, that Maria gets paid more than she does.
Julia meets a blind radio announcer named "Jack the Bat" and falls for him, only to discover that his perception of things is clearer than she suspected.
Maria, Julia, and Eddie are in for a surprise when they get invited to a health spa at a nudist camp.
Maria and Julia moonlight as donut workers to pay for their vacation.
Julia is told to take her ketchup commercial to a famous writer who is going to endorse the product, and discovers that his interest goes beyond a business relationship.
Julia's fun loving, ex-sorority sister, Marilyn no longer having a husband, comes for a visit and pursues Julia's boyfriend.
Toni is a guest on The David Susskind Show and levels her guns at Mr Bedford, only to have everything backfire on her.
Eddie gets caught in a lie when he has to admit that he told some out-of-town friends that he is living with April Baxter.
Julia goes out with an eligible physician. But in a quick turnabout she comes down with stomach ailment and Julia's date is now her doctor much to her embarrassment.
Maria discovers love with an old high school flame, and before she knows it, is engaged to be married.
The engagement party at Maria's turns sour when she and Skip argue over the prospect of Maria continuing as a career woman.
