Summertide tells the story of marine biologist and father of two children, Martin Field, who moves to the False Bay area to get away from a big secret - the death of his wife. There he starts a marine conservation trust for False Bay - but life isn't as simple as it seems.

Season 1:
After his wife’s death, Martin Field and his children return to Simon's Town. Tristan comes into conflict with local teenagers, and Martin comes face-to-face with his first love.
Martin sets up a Marine Conservation Trust but faces a hostile backlash from the fishing community. Tristan faces consequences of his fight and finds chemistry with Yolande.
Tristan and Lucy’s first day of school doesn’t go well. Martin steps up for his children. Gavin plans to take his relationship with Rebecca to the next level.
Martin angers the fishermen when he proposes no-take zones in False Bay. Tristan is initiated into the surf gang. Rebecca and Gavin make up, but feelings for Martin re-surface.
Martin tries to unite the community with a beach clean-up. Rebecca faces having to sell the restaurant, and Gavin deals with his break-up. Lucy grows attached to the penguins.
Tristan finds Julia’s old camera. Martin is reluctant to look at the old footage, but when Tristan disobeys him and edits the footage, secrets and painful memories are opened.
While Martin tries to face the memories of his wife’s drowning, and Tristan turns to Yolande, Lucy is forgotten. Gavin comes up with an unexpected plan to help Rebecca.
Martin tackles over-fishing in the bay. Tristan gets himself into serious trouble. And things go from bad to worse when Martin shares the secret of Julia’s death with Tristan.
Tristan takes Yolande out on a boat, but things go terribly wrong. Rebecca and Gavin rally together to renovate the restaurant. And Martin admits it was his fault his wife died.
Hannes threatens to tell Tristan the truth about Yolande if she keeps on seeing him. The fishermen retaliate against Martin, and take it out on Lucy’s dear penguin.
Animosity escalates, until Martin asks the fishermen to work with him. Tristan learns the truth about Yolande, and Elena arrives from Cyprus. Wilma makes an awful mistake.
Martin learns there is an illegal fishing syndicate operating in the bay, and suspects Freddy is part of it. Jack struggles to forgive Wilma. Tristan makes a difficult choice.
Freddy crosses sides, and teams up with Martin to entrap the illegal trawlers. Hannes reveals a dark secret. Gavin plans to propose, but passion flares between Rebecca and Martin.
