Season 1:
Nami is a small-town girl with no special dreams who wants nothing from life but a modicum of happiness. Then she moves to Tokyo and lands a job at a major fashion magazine where she meets the glamorous but intimidating Reiko, the youngest editor-in-chief in the magazine’s history, and Yuta, a dashing and loveable young photographer.
Nami agrees to pose as Junnosuke’s girlfriend to help him wriggle out of an arranged marriage proposal. But Nami gets a big shock when Junnosuke asks her to meet his sister, who turns out to be none other than her formidable new boss, Reiko! The situation goes from bad to worse when Nami lies about being a kendama champion and then has to put her money where her mouth is!
Nami and Junnosuke are done pretending to be lovers but she can’t stop thinking about him. Meanwhile, the staff of MIYAVI are racing to finish their first issue, which goes to press in one week. But when Reiko suddenly orders her staff to find someone new to interview for the main feature, their resentment toward her grows. Finally, they give her an ultimatum: either she quits or they do!
The inaugural issue of MIYAVI is finally released. One evening, Nami attends a party for a fashion brand with some of her colleagues. There, she runs into Junnosuke and realizes she still feels conflicted about her relationship with him. Later, Nami is asked to assist Reiko’s former boss, Jinko, a creative director who’s been put in charge of a special feature for the fashion magazine.
After finding Junnosuke waiting for her in the rain, soaking wet, Nami kisses him and takes him back to her apartment, where he confesses his feelings. But her happiness turns to doubt over his affection for an old childhood friend. Meanwhile, at work, Nami tries to win Reiko over by taking on extra responsibilities. But she might have bitten off more than she can chew!
Nami accompanies Reiko to a party where she spots Junnosuke’s childhood friend, Rio. Knowing that Junnosuke used to have had a crush on Rio, Nami studiously avoids her the entire evening. Later, upon returning home, she finds Junnosuke camped out in front of her apartment, and he refuses to leave until Nami explains why she hasn’t returned any of his calls and messages!!
Nami is roped in by Reiko to help her search for financial backing to keep MIYAVI afloat. Meanwhile, Nami’s parents pay a sudden visit and run into Junnosuke at her apartment. But Nami refuses to speak to him after seeing him giving Rio a hug, then her mother tries to chase him away believing he’s taking advantage of her daughter.
MIYAVI embarks on a collaboration with a cosmetics brand in hopes of saving the magazine. Asked by Reiko to contribute a short article for the project, Nami can barely contain her excitement about getting published. Meanwhile, she’s patched things up with Junnosuke and smiles whenever she thinks about him at work. But when he goes home to Kanazawa, his mother tells him she wants to meet his new girlfriend. Will Nami pass muster with his rich family?
Nami is stunned when Junnosuke suddenly pops the question at the skating rink, then announces he’s moving back home to Kanazawa. Before she can even think, she blurts out her answer… The next day, Nami shows up at work with Reiko’s morning cup of coffee only to find that her boss’ office is empty and all her belongings are gone. Later, at a staff meeting, Nami and her colleagues are told that under the terms of the new merger, Reiko has been replaced as editor-in-chief.
