Season 1:
Josefine hates Christmas because her birthday is on December 24th. And she has to share that with this Jesus. But their suggestions to abolish Christmas or at least postpone it are of course not met with any attention, because everyone else is looking forward to Christmas. And then Josephine is assigned the role of Mary in the nativity play... Meanwhile, in biblical times, due to a lack of other accommodation, Mary and Joseph end up in a stable in Bethlehem, where Mary gives birth to her child.
While the three wise men set out to find the baby Jesus in biblical times, Josefine and Oskar meet the mysterious stranger again who found Oskar's degus the evening before. His name is Mr. Thorsen and he runs an antique shop full of strange things. Josefine is immediately fascinated by him because he marks his shop with a sign as a “Christmas-free zone”.
Herod learns that the three wise men have found the child and then orders all the little boys in his kingdom to be killed. An angel appears to Joseph and tells him to flee to Egypt with his wife and child. In the present, Josefine's doubts about the truth of the Christmas story become ever stronger. Now she no longer even believes that Jesus is the Son of God. Eventually she even sneaks onto her mother's computer and rewrites her mother's sermon for the Sunday service.
Josefine has an argument with Oskar and therefore visits Mr. Thorsen in his shop. He asks her to take care of the business. As soon as he leaves, Josefine is playing again with the strange nativity scene that she discovered in his shop. Something strange is happening! Suddenly Josefine finds herself in a completely strange world. Where did she end up? And who is the boy named Jesus that she meets there?
Oskar is still angry with Josefine. Because he doesn't want to play with her, she goes to Thorsen's shop - and travels through the magical nativity scene straight to Nazareth. There she becomes more and more friends with Jesus. But when she gets back home, she realizes that something is different. Can she change history?
Josefine travels to Nazareth again with Thorsen's nativity scene. Because Jesus should abolish the disgusting rice porridge that is traditionally eaten in her home before Christmas. That's not all, she also ensures that Jesus performs a miracle! Oskar gradually becomes suspicious of Josefine's constant absence and calls her on his cell phone. That rings in the middle of Nazareth, of all places. When Josefine comes home in the evening, she realizes that she has changed history again by traveling through time.
Josefine learns from her mother's Sunday sermon that she found her way into the Bible as a "girl from the north" through her time travels. But what's more important to her is still persuading Jesus to postpone his birthday. In return, she shows him that he can walk on water. Eventually Josefine is chased away by Maria - but probably not for long.
Josefine Jesus actually wants to go back to the year 12 AD on her trip to Nazareth today. Yes, make it clear that she is angry because he didn't postpone his birthday. Because she would like to finally celebrate a normal birthday where not everyone celebrates Christmas. But when he confesses his love to her, it completely throws her off her feet.
When Josephine comes back to Nazareth in the year 12 AD, Jesus really wants to go to a gladiator performance with her because he himself is a big fan of Pardos, the Roman “super gladitor”. Jesus even gets into the ring himself and does well. But Josephine left her cell phone at Jesus' house. And when Oskar calls and Josef picks up this strange bell thing, it causes some confusion.
With the help of Thorsen's welding torch, Jesper's rolls and the courageous efforts of Simon and Judas, Jesus and Josefine are able to free Oskar at the last minute. But just as they want to escape from the dungeon, Centurion stands in their way. The rescue operation appears to have failed. But Jesus outwits the Roman and Oskar is free. Josefine is very enthusiastic about this action, but Oskar is beginning to have doubts as to whether it is really a good idea to tinker with the past.

When Josefine looks out the classroom window, she can hardly believe her eyes: Jesus is standing in the pouring rain in the schoolyard! Josefine and Oskar quickly storm out of the class and take care of the shaking Jesus. Oskar wants to send him back immediately, but Josefine wants to give him dry clothes first. When they finally want to get Jesus on his way back, they find that Thorsen's shop is locked and Jesus has to stay longer!
Before his return journey, Jesus would like to say goodbye to Oskar. That's why Josefine and he go to him. They find a sad friend who is mourning the loss of his pet degu who suddenly died. Josephine then points out Jesus' abilities again. But now it's finally time to say goodbye. The children sneak past Thorsen to the crib and find that their magic no longer works!
Josefine, Oskar and Jesus go to Josefine's mother's church service. In church, Jesus is approached by a strange old man who tells him that there is something wrong with the manger in Nazareth. So that's why Jesus can't go back. But what should the three of them do? Luckily, Jesus remembers that he left Oskar's cell phone with Simon and Judas. They promptly call to find out that Joseph sold the wood from the nativity scene to the Romans. What are they supposed to do?
Jesper arranged for the police to have Jesus taken to the Sonnenhaus, a house for mentally ill children. He thinks that Jesus is just a confused child who makes up stories! Of course, Oskar and Josefine now do everything they can to send Jesus back to Nazareth. To do this they first need Thorsen's nativity scene. It's not that easy. But finally they are allowed to take them with them. Now all they have to do is find Jesus. Will they succeed?
In today's episode, Josefine's little brother Jonas really wants to give Jesus a self-made Secret Santa hat. And since he has now found out where he can find Jesus, he travels to Nazareth without further ado. He really likes it there and spends a nice time with Jesus. But he is now missing in Denmark and a feverish search begins. But then Josefine comes up with the saving idea! She picks up her cell phone and calls Jesus, who immediately sends Luke back. As he leaves, Luke asks him another question that makes Jesus very thoughtful.
Although Josefine promised Oskar that she would no longer travel to Nazareth, she breaks her word. Because Jesus urges them to come to him because something has happened. He wants to know from her what his vision means. Now she has to admit to him that he will die on the cross. Then he no longer wants to be God's son and that's why he runs away. This has consequences, because when Josefine returns to the present, everything has changed.
Life is hard in the world created by Thorsen. There is no kindness and no compassion. Only Jytte, who is now called number 12, has not completely lost her kindness. And it is she who gives Oskar and Josefine the tip as to where they can find the enchanted nativity scene. And this is urgently needed because Jesus is still missing in Nazareth!
Josefine and Oskar now put everything on one card: They have to get to Thorsen's apartment and therefore to the crèche. Oskar distracts the guards and Josefine manages to escape. She actually gets into Thorsen's apartment and quickly finds the crib. But the devil Thorsen, the tempter, has a good reputation and he puts Josefine through a lot of trouble. She is actually tempted to forget her mission. Who will be stronger?
After a strenuous journey, Josephine, Judas and Simon arrive in the Roman city of Caesarea. There they actually find Jesus, who is now training as a gladiator at Pardos. He's not thrilled to see his three friends and so he sends them away. Things get even more difficult because Thorsen has also traveled through time. He immediately begins to weave his web of intrigue. Things are looking bad for Josefine!
Josephine's prayer is heard because Jesus has a vision in which he sees the world created by Thorsen. He then gives up the gladiator school and makes his way back to Nazareth. But that's a long way off and Thorsen won't give up so easily. He confronts Jesus in the middle of the desert. But luckily Josefine is nearby and she still has the package that Jytte gave her.
When Jesus and his friends return to Nazareth, there is great joy. Now he knows what his destiny is and also that he still has some time until then. But it's time for Josefine to say goodbye to Jesus for good. The two separate with a heavy heart. Returning to the present, she expects a world in which everything is as it was before. She's very happy about that, even if it means eating rice porridge again.
After Josephine's last visit to Nazareth, everything seems to be right again. But Thorsen is not yet defeated. When Oskar and Josefine have finished the dress rehearsal for their nativity play in the church, he suddenly appears there and tries his luck again. But the two children are strengthened by the adventures of the last few weeks. Will Oskar and Josefine be strong enough?
Now the time has finally come: Christmas Eve is here! And it's not just in Josefine's family that everything is going haywire. Oskar and Josefine have come up with a surprise for the nativity play; they amaze the audience with a lifelike interpretation of the play. And the rest of the service is also unusual: Louise gives an improvised sermon that convinces everyone. But the biggest surprise awaits Josefine.
