Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1987)
Down and Out in Beverly Hills is a 30 minute TV series based on the 1986 movie of the same name. It aired from July 25, 1987 to September 12, 1987 on on the fledging Fox network. It has the distinction of being the first ever show to be cancelled by Fox; only 13 episodes were produced. The cast included Hector Elizondo as Dave Whiteman, Anita Morris as Barbara Whiteman, Eileen Seeley as Jenny Whiteman, April Ortiz as Carmen the Maid, and Tim Thomerson as Jerry Baskin. Evan Richards was the only cast member of the film to reprise his role for TV.

Season 1:

Barbara feels something is missing from her life after meeting with one of her old friends who has made a big success of her life - after listening to the wise words of Jerry.
Dave has turned film investor but doesn't realise the star of the film, Dirk Stoner, is somewhat over the hill.
Dave learns that his business manager has been embezzling large amount of funds from his company.
Dave has to face up to the fact that he may be penniless.
Jerry gets a job playing piano on a cruise ship but is soon struggling with the pressures of regular employment.
Barbara finds herself heavily mixed up with the mafia after buying into a pizza parlor.
Jerry manages to bring Dave's entire workforce out on strike.
