Season 1:
Bud Lutz Jr., straight out of law school, sets up his practice at a strip mall in Palm Springs. An ambulance chaser type with a good heart. Buddy gets a call from a large law firm, hoping for a job.
Bud's ex-girl friend is about to make him a great job offer, but his present girl friend may refuse it for him.
Bud Jr. tries to hide his worry about Bud Sr's hernia surgery. Megan meets with Kay and they end up discussing their mutual love interest.
Megan's ex-husband comes to town, hoping to rekindle old flames---hopes he shares with Bud's ex-girlfriend.
At his high-school reunion, Bud learns that he and a prospective client have a lot in common. The client's wife was a "friend" of Bud's in high school.

Bud searches for his biological father, while deciding whether to reveal his identity to Jay, his own illegitimate son.
Kay tries her hand at homemaking and Megan enrolls in night school.
A would-be burglar flees to Bud's office, where he holds everyone hostage until Bud comes up with a scheme that he hopes will bring publicity to the firm.
With two women vying for Bud's company, Bud decides to set one up with a friend, but he doesn't plan on their hitting it off so well.
Bud takes on a racial prejudice case. Meanwhile, Megan breaks up with Bud because his pride is getting in the way of their relationship, and an older woman has eyes for Bud.
Bud turns to music for cash and solace when Kay's new beau starts humming the wedding march.
A man Bud dislikes plans Bud's undoing, sending both Megan and Kay flowers, cards---and engagement rings.
