Stubborn and determined detective Valeria Ferro endeavors to solve the challenging puzzle behind crimes motivated by jealousy, vendettas and repressed anger to seek the truth and justice. All as she struggles with her own demons and the phantoms of her past that come back to life when her mother is released from jail after serving a seventeen-year prison sentence.

Season 2:
Susanna Bianco, a woman hosted in a center for abused women, is killed in mysterious circumstances. Suspicions fall on Thomas, her husband, already accused of violence against his wife. Only the intuition of Valeria Ferro, inspector of the Turin homicide squad, manages to shed light on the facts.
1998. Valeria Ferro, teenager, reaches the lake house with her family. However, a threat looms over the serenity of the holiday: a mysterious car follows the Ferros in all their movements. Scared, Lucia tries to convince her husband and children to run away, but the man doesn't give in and she decides to call the police.
The body of Matteo Nardi, 6 years old, is found lifeless in the Novara countryside. The first investigations, conducted by the police officer Barbara Alessi, the child's aunt, seem to frame his father, already accused of sexual abuse. But the policemen of the Mobile of Turin exonerate the man and focus on Jacopo, his brother.
Inspector Valeria Ferro's team tracks down and arrests Jacopo Nardi on charges of killing his nephew Matteo. Simone, brother of the little victim and only witness, closes in an impenetrable silence, while Valeria discovers that, during the investigation, someone has sown false evidence.
Inspector Valeria Ferro investigates the death of a young woman, Lavinia Oliveira, suffocated in a complicated threesome erotic game. During the interrogations, Sonia Fabris, the other woman involved in the practice, reveals that the judge Franco Giordani had been invited to attend the performance. Thus, the manhunt begins.
The body of Claudio Rivetti, one of the owners of a brick factory, is found charred in the factory oven. The investigations lead Inspector Valeria Ferro to suspect Rami, a worker, lover of the victim's wife. Yet the boy seems to have nothing to do with the murder.
The discovery of a woman's body and the subsequent confession of her murder by Samuele Torti reopen the case of the disappearance of Livia Mori. According to the girl's mother, Torti could be responsible for the disappearance of her daughter. The investigations conducted by Inspector Valeria Ferro lead to an unexpected truth.
The death of Francesca Molino, an esteemed oncologist, is initially classified as a suicide. During the investigation, however, Inspector Valeria Ferro realizes that something is not right and she begins to suspect Fabio Serra, the father of a little patient of the doctor's. However, Serra wasn't the only one resentful of the woman.
The body of Eva, a Polish girl, is found in the rectory of the parish of Novareto. The investigations into the case lead the inspector of the Turin mobile, Valeria Ferro, to clash with Father Saverio, superior of the Monastery of San Giorgio where men of the church are hosted, removed from their communities for problems of various kinds.
Giorgia Vetere, a psychologist who works for the Army, is found dead in her office. The investigations conducted by Inspector Valeria Ferro lead to Fiorella, wife of Lieutenant Navarro, who fears a relationship between her husband and her woman. But Navarro himself is, for the same reason, among the suspects. When Fiorella denounces her husband, the case goes to the military court and Valeria is forced to call herself out.
Inspector Valeria Ferro investigates the case of two girls, Elena and Sofia, belonging to a sect, the Daughters of Maat, a commune that houses its followers. During the investigation, Valeria sheds light on the illicit and morbid relationships that bind the girls to Roberto and Gabriella, the founders of the sect.
Flavio, principal dancer of a dance company, is poisoned during rehearsals in the theater and Lavinia, his partner on stage, casually escapes the same fate. Inspector Valeria Ferro's investigations focus on Dario, the woman's husband, afflicted by serious health problems.
Inspector Valeria Ferro finds himself investigating the discovery of the body of an eighteen year old, Margherita Ricci, found with cuts on her wrists. The girl had a twin, Barbara, who committed suicide a few months before her by jumping into the well of the family farmhouse. But Valeria doesn't believe in the suicide hypothesis and decides to go to the bottom of it.
Debora finds the lifeless body of her daughter Silvia in the living room of the house where the traces of a party based on alcohol and drugs are evident. Rachele, her sister born from her father's second marriage, is found dying next to Silvia. In her testimony, the first inconsistencies emerge which make Inspector Valeria Ferro suspicious, leading her on the trail of Walter, Silvia's brother.
Ludovico De Millet and his wife Nora Virili are victims of an attempted robbery in their villa on the outskirts of Turin and the aggressor, Paolo Ratti, is shot to death by the landlord. Inspector Valeria Ferro's investigations establish a relationship between the victim and Ludovico. Ratti, fired by De Millet, who may have acted in revenge. But the situation gets complicated when Valeria finds compromising photos of Nora in the robber's house.
Entrepreneur Pietro Kummel is found dead on the road, next to his car. Acquitted in cassation, the man has just been released from prison, escaping a nine-year prison sentence for being involved in an accident in his factory. Inspector Valeria Ferro's investigations are immediately directed towards the families of the victims, but, little by little, it becomes clear that Kummel's enemies are numerous.
A robbery at an armored car goes badly. Two of the three robbers, Carmine and Rocco, lose their lives, the third accomplice, Cesare Mastrangeli, flees with the loot. Miranda, wife of the fugitive robber, is found dead in her apartment that same morning. Inspector Valeria Ferro's suspicions are all for the wife of one of the two villains who died but only the arrest of the fugitive can clarify the situation.
Marta Valente is bound and gagged while the corpse of her son Christian, a boy with severe mental retardation, and of Luigi Merlo, director of the hippotherapy center for the disabled who treated the young man, lie a few meters away. The first hypothesis formulated by Inspector Valeria Ferro is that of a robbery but the presence of an "inconvenient" witness reveals much more.
Diego Padovano, who is tailing Emiliano Nesta on behalf of his brother Carlo, arrives at a motel where different stories intersect: Emiliano having a clandestine relationship with Ambra, his brother's wife; Erica, who runs away from her husband with a load of cocaine ovules; Orazio, the owner of the structure, who spies on everyone and who discovers a criminal plan against Carlo Nesta.
The shreds of Emiliano's body are found in a pigsty. Erica was joined by her husband Mauro, who is desperately looking for cocaine. Carlo, having just escaped an assassination attempt, learns of his brother's tragic death and begins to suspect his wife's possible involvement.
Investigations into the death of Cristian, a wrestler, lead Inspector Valeria Ferro to immerse himself in the world of wrestling and gyms. Here she meets the girl of the murdered and Tony Speranza, owner of the gym where the young wrestler trained and involved in trafficking in doping substances.
Giancarlo, chef of a starred restaurant, is found dead in the cold room. Inspector Valeria Ferro's investigations focus on her team including Cristina, a promising sour-chef struggling with a degenerative disease, Alberto, brother of the deceased and former deputy and Francesco, a talented young man. The criminal event risks tarnishing the restaurant's fame, but Valeria soon realizes that the kitchen hides many secrets.
Inspector Valeria Ferro investigates the death of a girl, Azzurra, stabbed in her bed after a night at the disco where she met Gabriele, a boy she met in a chat. But that evening, there were also other people in the club who all turn out to be pawns in a dangerous game.
Gabriele, prime suspect for Azzurra's murder, flees arrest to find out what happened that night at the disco while Virginia is being blackmailed with a hot video of her in the car with Massimo. Luna, Azzurra's twin, however, hides a terrible truth that unites the two crimes. Inspector Valeria Ferro has the task of discovering it.
