Senior Variety Shows Producer of Starlight TV - HA YAT-CHEUNG is very serious at work and never jokes around, so he gets the nick name “Killer” from his co-workers. On top of that, his girlfriend left him since he has been such a workaholic. Ever since he was little, he has lived with the CHAN’s family. Although calling Mrs CHAN – LAU TSUI-WAN as Auntie TSUI, he treats her as if she was his biological mother. While having breakfast with TSUI-WAN, YAT-CHEUNG sees a group of secondary school students fooling around with uproarious talk and laughter and bullying the staff of the restaurant. This gives him a vision, persuading one of the students CHEUNG TSUN-KIT to participate in a real life show which is going to be filmed during Summer Holidays. Due to the resignation of the Production Assistant, YAT-CHEUNG recruits HUI MEI-FUNG, who came back to Hong Kong from Canada by herself……
TSUN-KIT and the filming team arrive at the destination, unfolding a 14-day experience of rural life. TSUN-KIT is arranged to stay in Uncle LAU’s home temporarily, but the knick-knacks of Uncle LAU’s younger son CHONG and daughter CHING-CHING have no relish at all for him. Moreover, he would rather eat nothing as he is not used to the rural food there. The next day, Auntie LAU prepares a potion made of leek juice to treat TSUN-KIT after knowing that he has not slept well the whole night due to mosquito bites, but he shows no appreciation at all. Being assigned to work in a pigsty, TSUN-KIT is inadvertently caked in mud when he slips in the middle of cleaning the pigsty, causing his further discontent with everything in the countryside. While having lunch, he feeds dogs with the meat in his bowl, with which a villager Uncle KAN is very dissatisfied, so the two start a quarrel……
TSUN-KIT refuses to cooperate after finding out that YAT-CHEUNG secretly filmed him. Uncle LAU leads TSUN-KIT to gather medicinal herbs on the mountains, during which CHUNG-SHUN sprains his ankle, so CHUNG-SHUN asks WAI-HONG to carry the camera and continue the filming in his stead. However, due to WAI-HONG's repeated mistakes, YAT-CHEUNG has no alternative but to film on his own. As the LAU couple's eldest son KEUNG, who is studying in the town, will soon return home, the couple particularly prepare some pickled mustard greens for their son, showing their care and tenderness towards him. In view of such harmony of the LAU's family, YAT-CHEUNG, CHUNG-SHUN and the other team members are deeply touched. MEI-FUNG takes a break due to heat stroke sustained, during which her conversation with her father over the phone is overheard by CHUNG-SHUN……
As Uncle LAU's blood comes gushing out, TSUN-KIT is panicked into running away. YAT-CHEUNG continues to film TSUN-KIT's embarrassed look by a small camcorder as soon as he locates the latter, whereas MEI-FUNG stops YAT-CHEUNG from doing so as she sees that TSUN-KIT bursts into tears. No one blames TSUN-KIT for that, and Uncle LAU together with his family members care about TSUN-KIT so much that he starts feeling the overwhelming human touch in the rural area. TSUN-KIT not only actively experiences the rural life there, but also comes to realize the paternal benevolence and love. After reviewing the footage, YAT-CHEUNG discovers what MEI-FUNG said is true because they did record a lot of TSUN-KIT's embarrassing moment, as such he senses that he has gone too far. YAT-CHEUNG then admits to MEI-FUNG that he was prejudicing against TSUN-KIT……
As the filming process of the program "Be a Country Boy during Summer Holidays" draws to an end, everyone exchanges souvenirs with one another, when TSUN-KIT even gives out his favorite limited edition sneakers to KEUNG. While promising to meet each other someday later, they bury a time capsule together. After the filming team returns to Hong Kong, TSUN-KIT keeps himself out of mischief and starts anew upon his return, and he actively goes to the restaurant and helps out, which pleasantly surprises his father. Arriving at the CHAN's residence, YAT-CHEUNG sentimentally shares his experience of filming in the LAU's Village with TSUI-WAN. The experience in the LAU's Village also left an influence on CHUNG-SHUN and WAI-HONG, who both come to realize the importance of a family reunion. However, having rushed back home to practice filial piety, both of them come across some unpleasant outcome……
