Season 1:
Park Tae Yong is the first lawyer to overturn a wrongfully accused murder case in a retrial and stands in the public's spotlight. But because of his flagrant ego expressing his background and cheap counseling fees, low-class people line up in droves outside his firm. Meanwhile, Reporter Park Sam Soo, who got shunned away by Tae Yong, takes on a murder scoop with Lee Yoo Kyung. Later, a three-man murder case grabs both of their attention.
Sam Soo gets caught on camera acting as a slave for Mayor Kang, and the other news agencies capitalize on it. With his and News and New's reputation smashed, Sam Soo cleans his desk and leaves. Meanwhile, Tae Yong scouts out the S University grad reporter who happens to be Sam Soo. They agree to work together on the possible life-changing Samjung three-man murder retrial case and bring down those responsible.
Tae Yong sticks to his promise and does his best to represent Jung Myung Hee in court. Later, he declines the job offer from the Law Offices of Daeseok and goes all-in with the Samjung three-man murder case. Sam Soo, who was still unsure of his position, turns down Moon Joo Hyung's offer and decides to join Tae Yong. Meanwhile, Tae Yong meets with Kim Byung Dae regarding a settlement offer he mentioned before.
The three wrongly accused men in the Samjung three-man murder case decide not to sign on the settlement, putting everyone in a predicament. However, Mayor Kang and Head Prosecutor Jang Yoon Suk discover a loophole thanks to Supreme Court Justice Jo Ki Soo. Meanwhile, Tae Yong finds out through an article that the case got granted a retrial, while Sam Soo chucks frozen tuna in Busan. Later, Sam Soo joins Tae Yong again, only this time, he makes him sign a contract.
After listening to Hwang Min Kyung's advice, Tae Yong and Sam Soo set off to track down the real culprits of the Samjung three-man murder case. Tae Yong sends Sam Soo to see Sang Hyun, who remembers how one of the culprits look like, but returns in tears. However, he decides to write an article with those tears to lure out the culprits and to empty people's pockets. Later, Tae Yong makes progress with Lee Cheol Gyu's contact.
Tae Yong shines in the courtroom once again, and the Samjung three-man murder case gets overturned. Before getting taken away in handcuffs, Lee Cheol Gyu sincerely apologizes to the three people wrongly accused, along with the victim at her gravesite. Tae Yong keeps things casual to respect Cheol Gyu's confession. However, Sam Soo can't wait to get a piece of the pie. Meanwhile, another case comes knocking on the door, one that Tae Yong is hesitant to take.
Yoo Kyung takes Jo Ki Soo's wrongful conviction cases from Jeju Island and slams it in front of Tae Yong and Sam Soo. Tae Yong agrees to challenge Jo Ki Soo, but Sam Soo is against it. Tae Yong heads to Jeju Island with Yoo Kyung to learn more about the case and agrees to represent Oh Jae Duk. Meanwhile, Jo Ki Soo gets appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Sam Soo looks into a case he was told not to.
Sam Soo is heartbroken and empathizes with what Kim Du Shik's son is going through because he too was once just like him.
Tae Yong convinces Sang Man to help Du Shik clear his name, and after much consideration, Sang Man joins the team. With Min Kyung's help, Tae Yong manages to get permission from the judge to access the case files about the real killer of the trucker. Meanwhile, Sam Soo writes an article regarding the trucker murder case and succeeds in garnering public attention.
Du Shik recognizes Lee Jae Sung on TV as Lee Yong Seon, who is now a model civil servant. When Jae Sung receives yet another award for outstanding volunteer work, Tae Yong and the rest start to change their minds. However, Sam Soo doesn't give up and presses forward to clear Du Shik's name. Yoo Kyung suggests that she meet with him for an interview to put him on the spot.
Sam Soo releases a news article about the police and prosecution who let the real culprit of the Osung murder get away. However, Sang Man and Du Shik face the consequences when the opposing side strikes back.
The NFS confirms the knife is Lee Jae Sung's, so Tae Yong and his team request a retrial right away. Yoon Suk feels cornered, so he tells Hee Sung to investigate Tae Yong and Sam Soo. Later, Hee Sung finds suspicious transactions in Tae Yong's overdraft. Meanwhile, Ki Soo carefully chooses a judge to preside over the retrial.
Yoo Kyung takes Jo Ki Soo's wrongful conviction cases from Jeju Island and slams it in front of Tae Yong and Sam Soo. Tae Yong agrees to challenge Jo Ki Soo, but Sam Soo opposes it.
After hearing Tae Yong's donation declaration on TV, Sam Soo tears up the payment memorandum in front of Tae Yong. He also learns that Du Shik is leaving Tae Yong's representation before he leaves his office. Han Sang Man talks to Du Shik and finds out that he joined forces with Kim Byung Dae. Meanwhile, Sam Soo sits alone at the beach, reflecting on himself when Yoo Kyung shows up.
Kim Du Shik returns to Park Tae Yong's representation. His return sparks a new motive and makes their presence known in court, calling all those responsible as witnesses. Meanwhile, all those involved scrambles to find a way out, Lee Yoo Kyung approaches Lee Jae Sung to tell him to tell the truth, and Park Sam Soo buys Jang Yoon Suk a drink. Later, Sam Soo and Yoo Kyung write articles exposing the truth behind the Osung trucker murder case.
In court, Tae Yong does his best to persuade the judge. But his claims of backdoor dealings in the judicial system put him in jeopardy. Without any evidence to back his claims, he risks facing disciplinary action by the Korean Bar Association. However, with high hopes, he awaits the court's decision on the Osung trucker murder case. Meanwhile, Sam Soo questions Tae Yong if he's running in the election.
Tae Yong has Chief Justice Jo Ki Soo right where he wants him. The video of him parading gets leaked, and Kim Hyung Choon has only one solution to the problem. Before anything happens to Jo Ki Soo, he gets instructed to have all judges destroy all pertinent documents and erase their computers. Meanwhile, Jang Yoon Suk sees his opportunity and starts making deals, even with Tae Yong that goes against Sam Soo and Yoo Kyung.
Sam Soo changes his mind and decides to go all in to help out the students and teachers at Seungwoon Technical High School after finding out it belongs to Mayor Kang. He only has Tae Yong to convince. Meanwhile, Tae Yong and Yoo Kyung think they have the man behind the police, prosecution, and the justice system. However, they still need evidence to prove their suspicion.
Sam Soo and Yoo Kyung believe handing over evidential documents proving backdoor dealings in court to Prosecutor Jang was the wrong thing to do, and put Tae Yong on the spot. However, Tae Yong asks them to keep their faith in him and Prosecutor Jang. Meanwhile, Prosecutor Jang gets a call from Kim Hyung Choon and promises to show up in the morning. Later, Tae Yong suggests they go after Mayor Kang and look into Seungwoon Technical High School.
Tae Yong asks Prosecutor Jang to go against his father-in-law, Mayor Kang, but he just tells him he'll think about it. At Seungwoon Technical High School, Mayor Kang's daughter finds out Yoon Suk lied to her about Tae Yong and Sam Soo's visit, and tells her father. Meanwhile, more teachers and students at the school join the fight and plan to get more incriminating evidence.
