Season 1:
The newly elected chairman of the Independence Party, Benedikt, has formed an alliance with the Social Democratic Alliance for the upcoming elections. Unexpectedly, he announces that he will resign if there is not a 90% voter turnout.
As Benedikt refuses to accept the position as Prime Minister, other powers consider their options. He gains international attention by using Twitter to try and convince the nation to form a coalition agreement.
When Benedikt's father contacts him for help with a conflic in his parish, Benedikt's first thought is to push for separating church and state.
Benedikt heads to his hometown in northern Iceland so sign permits to build a hotel resort. He meets his ex-girlfriend, who aims to get him to reject the construction.
Benedikt abuses his temporary powers to stop a deportation. The speaker of the parliament attempts to take advantage of Benedikt's vulnerability.
While the parliament is debating adopting the euro, while Benedikt is obsessed with adapting a medieval music script into a musical.
Benedikt's wife's family convinces his father to try and remove his legal autonomy in court. Meanwhile, an EU delegation arrives to oppose the plan to unilaterally adopt the euro.
A search and rescue party find Benedikt unconcious in the highlands. His allies jostle to try and replace him.
