Word Twisters' Adventures (2007)
In the Qing Dynasty, the most difficult thing for an articulate legal expert is not to win a lawsuit but to bargain for a twist of fate. Plagued by a mysterious family curse, Chan Mung-Kat, who comes from a legal family, is forced by his mother to fool around and devotes all his time to running a brothel despite his great talent. As a result of a careless mistake, he is embroiled in a legal dispute, through which he gets to know the eloquent Lap Lan Ching-Ching and the government opponent Fong Tong-Kan.

LAPLAN CHING CHING, the daughter of a government official LAPLAN KANG, goes to a temple at Nanping County to make a wish under the wishing tree on a special memorial day. CHING throws a wishing plate but CHAN MUNG KAT knocks it down accidentally. KAT is a good-for-nothing man who idles around in town and he teases CHING for wishing to get married secretly. CHING goes to the restaurant with her nanny and KAT sells fruits to her at a very high price. CHING buys the fruits and accuses KAT for breaking the Qing Dynasty’s law… FONG TONG KAN is a famous litigator and all the government officials are frightened to learn that he will come to Guangzhou soon. They gather together at a restaurant to discuss the measures against KAN but KAN is actually sitting next to them. KAT finds that CHING is leaving the court with a bag. He plays tricks to seize the bag and discovers an undergarment made by CHING inside the bag.… ...
KAT keeps on saying that CHING is loose in morals at the court. CHING is enraged and rushes out to argue with KAT. KAN discovers that CHING has been helping her father to settle the lawsuit all the time and he accuses all the government officials as well. All the officials are frightened and they request for a break to discuss the counterplot. CHING suddenly has an idea. She uses the newly announced law to save all the government officials and KAT is punished eventually. Royal Concubine YEE always begs the Emperor KIN LUNG to appoint her as the Empress and LUNG doesn’t know what to do. His subordinate WO SUN promises to solve the problem for him. PAK FUNG’s lessee LAI SHUENG visits her. SHEUNG is the owner of a brothel called Phoenix Court and she invites KAT to run the brothel for her. KAT goes to inspect the brothel and discovers that KAN is living there. KAT carelessly throws his underpants to the Viceroy’s head again.… ...
LUNG visits YEE at night but he discovers SUN on the bed. SUN tells LUNG that YEE has stunned him and ran away. LUNG asks SUN to look for YEE and SUN treats this as a golden chance to gain LUNG’s trust. CHING decides to fight with KAN in the court. She sneaks into the brothel to look for KAN’s court notes. Unfortunately, she is lost and KAT discovers her. KAT and his friends try to corner CHING but KAN rescues her secretly. CHING develops good feelings on KAN after this incident. YEE is lost in Guangzhou and CHING rescues her. KAT tries to look for CHING. He mistakenly captures YEE and sends her to the brothel. During the hearing for KAT’s case, KAN discloses that all the government officials are frequent visitors of the brothel. CHING asks KAN to let go of the government officials but KAN argues with CHING. All government officials decide to release KAT but KAT suddenly announces that he is not innocent.… ...
KAN apologizes to CHING and CHING is touched. CHING loses the jade pendant given by her mother and KAN promises to look for it at the brothel. However, the jade pendant has been picked up by KAT. YEE wakes up to realize that she is staying in a brothel. She decides to become a courtesan as revenge towards LUNG. SHEUNG organizes a contest to pick up the one who could stay with YEE on her “first night”. KAT persuades YEE to give up the silly idea and he carelessly drops the jade pendant in YEE’s room. KAT decides to fight for the championship of the contest so as to rescue YEE. KAN discovers that YEE has got CHING’s pendant and he decides to fight for the championship as well so that he could get the pendant. However, both of them are defeated by CHING who has dressed like a man to compete for the championship. SUN arrives at the brothel with his troops and he tries to look for YEE’s adulterer.… ...
CHING rescues everybody eventually and she carelessly reveals her good feelings towards KAN. YEE put SUN on her guard after this incident. On the other hand, SUN is upset for his plan against YEE has failed. SUN suggests to LUNG that he should kill all the men who had competed for YEE’s first night at the brothel and LUNG agrees. KAT overhears SUN’s plan accidentally. He tells FUNG about this but FUNG doesn’t believe in him. KAT eventually decides to spread the news around. He even invents the famous dish “Concubine Chicken” to mock YEE’s incident so that SUN will be more cautious when carrying out his killing plan. LUNG is enraged to learn about all the rumors in town and he decides to kill YEE. CHING learns that YEE will be killed because of KAT’s tricks and she rushes to KAN for solutions. However, she is shocked to realize that the emperor has appointed KAN as the official to accuse YEE.… ...
LUNG is hesitated after making a decision to kill YEE but SUN persuades him to continue the plan in order to keep his reputation. KAN continuously questions YEE at the court. YEE finds it unbearable and faints. At the waiting room, LUNG reveals to YEE that he needs to back out this embarrassing situation in a graceful way… The hearing starts again. CHING comes to defend the case for YEE while wearing LUNG’s jacket. CHING plays tricks to make LUNG laugh happily and LUNG eventually appoints YEE as the Empress in front of everybody. YEE is very grateful to CHING. She tells CHING that LUNG has agreed to arrange marriage between her and KAN. CHING is overjoyed. SUN learns about this and he voluntarily asks to handle the marriage details. SUN goes to KAT’s home and asks him to marry CHING. KAT and his mother try to run away but SUN captures them on time. On the wedding day, CHING is shocked to discover that her groom is KAT…
Episode 7 CHING immediately refuses to marry KAT. SUN takes out the imperial edict and forces them to continue the wedding ceremony. KAN learns about the news. He rushes to the scene to realize that CHING is married to KAT already and he is heart-broken. CHING begs KAT to bring her to KAN. When they arrive at the brothel, they are shocked to find that KAN has left a letter and gone. KAT’s marriage becomes the hot news in town and KAT’s relatives come to meet CHING enthusiastically. CHING and KAT have come into an agreement that they will not become real husband and wife. FUNG is worried about this. CHING returns to her home. SUNG WING, the father of the court’s Secretary SHING YAN, comes to CHING’s home to seek for help with his fiancee. In order to back up CHING, KANG try to play tricks on KAT’s family but he didn’t succeed… CHING learns that KAN has moved to Sam Shui County and she rushes to meet him.… ...
CHING finds that KAN has changed and she encourages him to become a good litigator again. Everybody in Nanping County is gossiping about the fact that CHING has gone to Sam Shui County to meet KAN and KAT has become a cuckold. KAT goes to the village to ask for rental payment. He is shocked to discover WING’s dead body in the house. MUI has become the suspect and YAN begs CHING to help. Encouraged by CHING, KAN returns to Nanping County. He helps CHING to investigate the dead body of WING and evidence implies that MUI is the murderer. YAN reveals that MUI is actually suffering from sleepwalking and asks CHING to help her. KAT is jealous that CHING has met KAN. He overhears that CHING is whispering KAN’s name in her dream and he decides to accuse CHING for committing adultery with KAN in her dream… KAT put the case to the court but the Governor sees through that this is a plot to rescue MUI.… ...
KAN is unhappy to discover that CHING is chatting happily with KAT and he resorts to drink. KAN overhears FUNG’s conversation with her deceased husband and realizes that KAT is plagued by a mysterious family curse which prevents him from getting involved in any lawsuits… KAT reveals to KAN that he wants to compete with CHING in the court and win her someday. KAN tells KAT that he could take him as an apprentice. KAN secretly discovers that MUI and YAN are confessing to WING in his grave. He immediately tells CHING and KAT about this. CHING is suffering from skin rash and she believes that KAT’s family curse will come true if KAT continues to learn about lawsuits from KAN. She therefore tries to stop KAT from continuing his studies… YAN reveals to MUI that he has mistakenly killed WING. CHING and KAN overhear their conversation. CHING plays tricks on YAN and YAN reveals the truth to everybody.… ...
KAT tells CHING that she is poisoned and CHING discovers that KAN is the one who poisons her. KAN reveals to CHING that he has done this so that she could leave KAT. KAN resorts to drink and he faints. He wakes up and remembers that a woman has rescued him. This woman is a street performer called LAU YEE YEE and they meet each other again on the street. YEE YEE feels that KAN is very depressed. She invites him to her gatherings and KAN feels a little bit relieved. KANG and FUNG try to bring CHING and KAT together. They sign up a marriage contest for KAT through which KAT could marry the daughter of LIN’s family as a concubine. CHING and her nanny find that a man is trying to commit suicide. This man is the lover of LIN PIK, the daughter of LIN’s family who is going to marry KAT. CHING returns home and asks KAT to cancel the marriage.… ...
KAN finds that YEE YEE is busking on the street at night. TONG realizes that KAN is a litigator and he asks YEE YEE to try getting closer to him in order to earn more money. KAT believes that his deceased father SING TIN has given him hints to fight for a lawsuit. In the evening, the spirit of SING TIN appears again and reminds KAT to use the last four sentences of the imperial edict to fight against CHING… During the hearing, CHING fights with KAT with the imperial edict while KAT uses the last four sentences of the imperial edict to fight back. CHEUNG SAM comes to the court to speak for himself. KAT makes good use of the imperial edict and forces Mr LIN to marry her daughter to SAM. It is discovered that the “spirit” who helped KAT is actually KAN. The business of Phoenix Court is getting better and better because KAN has asked YEE YEE to perform there. KAN sends a golden ornament to YEE YEE.… ...
KAN wants to have the golden ornament back but YEE YEE plays tricks to seize it away. KAN is enraged and he destroys the ornament. A group of self-combed women come to find CHING and ask her to inscribe some words on their village board. CHING is touched and agrees to go. KANG asks KAT to go with CHING. KAN discovers that YEE YEE is missing and he is very nervous. He eventually realizes his love towards YEE YEE but he insists that their love has no future. YEE YEE reveals to KAN about her past. KAN wants to buy back her freedom but YEE YEE rejects him. CHING and KAT come to the Self-Combed Village to inscribe her words on the village board. She asks KAT to pretend that he is completely obedient towards her. The self-combed women are jealous to see CHING “torturing” her husband… KAN admits his love towards YEE YEE and he requests TONG to release her. KAN threatens TONG and TONG eventually agrees to set YEE YEE free.… ...
KAN decides to marry YEE YEE. TONG is jealous and he tries to rape YEE YEE. He also threatens that he will disclose to KAN that she is no longer a virgin. YEE YEE is frightened and she kills TONG… YEE YEE is sent to jail and SUN decides to sentence the case by himself. KAN visits YEE YEE and she reveals everything to him, including the fact that she’s no longer a virgin… During the hearing, KAN defends for YEE YEE with much evidence. He nearly wins the lawsuit but SUN finds important evidence against YEE YEE. CHING and KAT eventually escape and their relationship has improved a lot after this incident. KAN finds an important hint to save YEE YEE and he comes to visit her. YEE YEE is shocked to find the birthmark on KAN’s hand…
YEE YEE accuses KAN for murdering at the court and SUN arrests KAN happily. YEE YEE visits KAN and tells him the reasons behind all these… CHING and KAT visit KAN. They are shocked to find that YEE YEE is emotionally out of control while KAN is expressionless. KAT and CHING persuade YEE YEE to tell the truth but she insists that she will only reveal the truth when KAN is dead. KAN pretends that he has drunk a cup of poisonous wine so that YEE YEE will misconceive that he has died. YEE YEE reveals the truth at the court and KAN wakes up afterwards. KAN promises that he will do everything to compensate YEE YEE and she is deeply touched. However, YEE YEE has actually drunk a cup of poisonous wine before she reveals the truth to everybody…
KAT invites CHING to the night market. He sends CHING flowers to declare his love and CHING is deeply touched. FUNG’s younger fellows visit her and FUNG performs kung-fu during the banquet. KANG joins FUNG and he is defeated by FUNG’s “Five Tiger Knife Routine”. A guard who visited FUNG before is killed. This guard is killed by the “Five Tiger Knife Routine”. Only 2 persons in the world have learnt “Five Tiger Knife Routine”. One is FUNG and the other is her senior fellow TUEN TIN FU who is being trapped inside a jail far away. KANG therefore suspects that FUNG is the murderer. Two more guards are killed by “Five Tiger Knife Routine” later and KANG arrests FUNG. FUNG asks KAT to search for FU’s apprentice MA SAN but KAT discovers that SAN is insane. FUNG remains to be the only suspect… KAT sneaks into FU’s jail to investigate the case. CHING arrives and helps KAT to sneak into FU’s special jail…
KAT follows CHING’s way but he cannot get hold of FU at all. CHING meets a mysterious old man outside the jail. This old man shows CHING the secret path to the jail and CHING reports the situation to the jail’s Officer CHOW YAT CHIN. KAT sneaks into the special jail again to meet FU but FU stuns him. CHIN discovers that the other end of the secret path is FU’s jail and he decides to sentence FU to death. However, FU has exchanged position with KAT already. He even brings FUNG to the execution ground so that FUNG will witness the death of her son. Luckily, CHING recognizes KAT at the execution ground and rescues him. FU runs away but he is killed by KANG. Before his death, FU insists that he didn’t kill people and stole any treasures… KAN tries to hold a memorial ceremony for YEE YEE at the temple but he accidentally discovers that this is the place where SUN stores his treasures.… ...
KANG is promoted to a higher rank and he moves to the capital with KAT’s family. However, KANG is shocked to realize that his rank is lower than the guards at the palace. Luckily, the Empress YEE comes to welcome KANG and they feel much better. CHING is happy to learn that the Empress is pregnant. KAN brings all the villagers to the temple and distributes SUN’s treasures to the villagers. SUN is enraged and he asks his subordinates to kill KAN and his servant. Luckily, they are rescued by a foreign captain. CHING prepares food for the Empress but the food is poisoned mysteriously. CHING is poisoned and the doctor discovers that CHING is pregnant. The Empress delivers a baby and faints. SUN finds a birthmark on the baby’s face and he has got a plan. The Empress wakes up to discover that her son has a big and ugly birthmark on his face. SUN brings her another baby and asks her to replace the baby so as to gain trust from the Emperor…
The married SHEUNG comes to look for CHING and she claims that somebody has seized away her son right after birth. CHING asks the Empress for help. She describes the characteristics of the missing baby and the Empress realizes that it is exactly the same as her replaced son… The Empress tells SUN and SUN persuades her to kill CHING. SUN accuses CHING for “murdering the prince” and sends her to jail. KAT spends all his money to bribe the government officials so that they will allow him to defend for his wife in the court. KAN is rescued by the ambassador from England and he learns to speak English… KAT fights with SUN at the court and successfully proves that all the evidence provided by SUN is faked. KAT is happy for he seems to be winning the case very soon but he is worried for CHING starts to suffer from lots of strange illnesses…
CHING’s health condition is getting worse. KAT suddenly realizes that this might be caused by the family curse. Just when he is about to win the case, KAT gives up and accepts all the guilt. CHING suddenly wakes up and recovers right away. CHING meets KAN on her way to visit KAT and KAN promises to help her. The Empress misses her own son all the time. SUN uses this to manipulate the Empress. KAN proposes a plan to CHING that enables the Empress to “accidentally” discover that SHEUNG’s husband is an Indian. The Empress is worried that the fake prince is an Indian and she turns to CHING for help. KAN meets SUN and he acts calm in front of him. He even tells SUN that he will ensure that SUN dies gracefully. SUN is frightened and he prevents KAN from defending for KAT. KAN plays tricks and SUN persuades the Emperor to hear the case by himself…
The Empress reveals to SUN that the fake prince is an Indian and SUN is shocked. During the hearing, CHING claims that the blood relationship of the little prince is questionable. She requests the Empress and the little prince to attend the hearing. SUN rushes to the Empress and discovers that she has seized her own son already. KAN forces SUN to sign a letter of guilty at the court. The Empress bravely faces all the government officials with her own son and CHING accuses SUN for causing all the troubles. KAT is released. Everybody is overjoyed but KAT suddenly faints… KAT is killed by the family curse but he keeps on making appeals in the netherworld. This eventually catches the attention of the Emperor in the netherworld and he decides to hear the case. KAT tries very hard to fight for a second chance but he feels helpless in front of the famous judge.… ...
