The six-part series follows journalist Hannis Martinsson (Ulrich Thomsen), who unexpectedly receives a message from Sonja, a young Faroese woman who claims she is Hannis' daughter and that her life is in danger. Reluctantly returning home to the Faroes to investigate, Hannis discovers Sonja's body in the bloody waters of a whale hunt. His search for answers soon brings him into conflict with the local detective chief inspector, Karla Mohr (Maria Rich; `Follow the Money') as he uncovers a web of secrets in the close-knit community - but how far is he willing to go to learn the truth

Season 1:
After a mysterious message from local activist Sonja á Heyggi, who claims she is his daughter and that her life is now in danger, journalist Hannis Martinsson returns home to the Faroe Islands.
As the mystery surrounding Sonja deepens, Detective Inspector Karla Mohr must work quickly to appease Hannis, her superiors and the local community. Meanwhile, Hannis launches his own investigation.
Karla comes across new evidence that makes her question everything. Hannis continues his investigation into his daughter's death and tries to piece together the clues Sonja left behind.
Hannis discovers a secret operation that reveals Sonja cannot have died the way and where the police claim she did. Meanwhile, Karla wants to publicly close Sonja's case.
With the help of Sonja's friend Jenny, Hannis devises a new plan to expose the police investigation. Meanwhile, Karla finally gets a breakthrough in the case that could change everything.
After Ragnar's last warning to Hannis, a new discovery reveals who the real culprit is. But without enough evidence, Hannis takes dramatic steps to catch Sonja's killer.
