Season 1:
This new series entitled "Stars of Europe" crosses national borders to explore even the most spectacular UNESCO sites on our continent. A journey that crosses Europe from east to west, from south to north, in search of the most representative beauties of each country. In this episode we start from Mont Saint-Michel, continue to Lisbon, while the Italian stage is Verona, then we return to France to finish in Chartres. Guests Riccardo Cocciante, Roberto Bolle, Dulce Pontes.
In this second episode, the journey starts from Athens, the cradle of Western civilization, and from its Acropolis where the legendary temple of perfect proportions, the Parthenon, stands. In the ultra-modern museum of the Acropolis, Alberto Angela discovers the Caryatids, stone maidens condemned for centuries to support the weight of a loggia. The Italian stage of this episode is Florence, which during the Renaissance left a deep imprint on European culture. The journey ends in Bavaria, in the atmosphere of fairy-tale castles imagined in the 19th century by King Ludwig II.
In Granada, the stone of the Alhambra becomes lace and bears witness to the long Arab domination of the Iberian peninsula. In Córdoba the columns of the Mezquita form a stone forest and in Seville flamenco expresses the tangle of feelings of the gypsy tradition. Actress Rocío Muñoz Morales talks about it. The Italian stage of this episode is Palermo, through the gold of the Palatine Chapel, the white marble of the Pretoria fountain and the honey-coloured stone of the Teatro Massimo. Three eras distant from each other, with the memories of the etoile Eleonora Abbagnato. We then go to the church of San Domenico, where there are the remains of Giovanni Falcone and where Paolo Borsellino gave a famous speech. His words will be repeated, which still make us reflect and perhaps even tremble. The journey ends in Prague, the city of a hundred towers.
