Season 1:
In her past life, Elise was called the Villainous Empress. Now she's genius surgeon Takamoto Aoi, saving as many as she can in an attempt to atone. She heads to Germany to perform surgery, but the plane begins to crash! Will this be the end for her?
In order to prevent tragedy from befalling those around her, Elise makes a difficult decision. She summons her courage and tells Emperor Minchester, but he doesn't immediately accept her resolve. Instead, he offers her a wager with her future on the line.
Elise keeps her identity a secret as she begins her work as an apprentice at Teresa Hospital. She makes use of the knowledge she gained as Takamoto Aoi to help her patients. Some doubt her abilities, but she soon proves herself in dramatic fashion!
Elise begins to distinguish herself through her medical knowledge. Then, a patient with a severe, untreatable injury is brought to Teresa Hospital. The enigmatic, handsome young man accompanying the patient shows an unusual interest in Elise.
Elise has succeeded in a complicated surgery thanks to her formidable medical skills. Impressed by her genius, the other doctors discuss her eligibility for the physician's exam. Later, Elise finds Lord Ron at the hospital and wonders why he's there.
Elise runs into Juliane, her former rival in love, at Minchester's birthday celebration. Recalling her previous cruel treatment of Juliane, Elise resolves to treat her with kindness. Just as Elise begins to relax, Minchester makes a shocking announcement.
Elise races to save a patient at the emperor's birthday celebrations. Since the procedure she performs is new to the empire, she faces harsh consequences for her actions. Her priority is always her patients' lives, but what about the physician's exam?
Graham makes a shocking discovery which threatens to change his relationship with Elise. Soon after, he takes a leave of absence from the hospital. Elise visits his home in the hopes of regaining his friendship, but she runs into an unforeseen emergency!
Through an unexpected turn of events, Elise ends up staying at the Child family's home, something she never imagined would happen. While there, she and Juliane have a chance to talk and they begin to share things they've never told anyone before.
Elise suddenly has the chance to spend time with Ron. She is thrilled, and though he doesn't show it, Elise sends Ron's heart racing. During their date, they get caught up in an accident. Their hearts grow closer, but something weighs on Ron's mind.
Elise attends an award ceremony where she is bestowed the Order of the Imperial Rose. It's a good day, filled with congratulations from all around, but Elise's head is filled with thoughts of the physician's exam. Then, Minchester suddenly collapses!
Elise knows that tragedy is nearly upon them. She devotes everything she has to one final, desperate effort. Then, the physician's exam finally begins. After everything is done, Elise's convictions about how she wants to live her life only grow stronger.
