Released from the ties of family responsibilities, Hyo Sim relishes the moments in her new home with Tae Ho. Tae Min, reluctantly married to Soo Kyung, is away on a honeymoon. Tae Hee, forced back home by Mr. Yeom, is now in confinement. Changes are imminent at Uicheon Villa with Hyo Sim's move to a new residence.
In the midst of an inescapable situation with Mr. Yeom and his men, Myung Hee grapples with the challenge of finding an exit. Meanwhile, Tae Ho's trip to the supermarket with Hyo Sim unexpectedly brings him face-to-face with So Ra. With Tae Min and Soo Kyung back from their honeymoon, Tae Hee strategically plans her escape during a momentary diversion of attention. Hyo Jun's decision to give up his studies faces staunch opposition from Mi Rim, who refuses to let him throw in the towel. Hyo Sim takes decisive steps toward shaping her future.
After seeing Tae Ho collapse, Hyo Sim consoles him. She asks him why he is so sad, but Tae Ho laughs it over. After spending a honeymoon practically separately, Tae Min and Soo Kyung begin their marriage, which is only for show. Hyo Do and Tae Hee register their marriage, and Hee Ju goes to Sun Soon's house but gets put to work. Meanwhile, Tae Ho plans to make Taesan Group the company it once was.
After a delightful date, Hyo Sim and Tae Ho return to Hyo Sim's house. However, Sun Soon, who had grilled Hyo Sim's address out of Hyo Sung, barges in and creates a scene. Meanwhile, Soo Kyung offers to help Tae Min with his promotion by using the power of the press to disturb Tae Ho, while Tae Hee returns home with Hyo Do, and Tae Ho takes Hyo Sim by her hand to see her mother, Sun Soon.
Hyo Sim has had enough of how her mom treats Tae Ho, and she finally lets out her frustration. She even throws some harsh words at Sun Soon, who ends up showing a lot of disappointment. Tae Min learns about Tae Ho digging deeper into the Daegwallyeong Pass incident through Soo Kyung, who isn't happy with how Tae Min is treating her. Meanwhile, Tae Ho takes Hyo Sim to where his parents are laid to rest.
So, Tae Ho straight-up asks Tae Min if he's got the lowdown on what really went down with their old man's death. Things get heated, and they end up throwing punches. Later, Tae Ho crashes at Hyo Sim's pad, asking if he can crash there for the night. On the flip side, Tae Min is hustling hard to secure the top spot at Taesan Group, and he leaves Soo Kyung with scars while doing so. Meanwhile, Hyo Sim and Tae Ho are all lovey-dovey in a parking lot, clueless that they've got an audience.
Tae Ho and Myung Hee finally meet and shed tears of joy. Myung Hee tells Tae Ho to keep her a secret. With the money Hyo Sim gave her, Sun Soon takes over a cafe. Although Tae Min gets promoted to vice chairman, Tae Ho plans to stop him from becoming the chairman. Meanwhile, Tae Min and Soo Kyung's marriage shatters, and rumors at TS Fitness begin to spread.
Hyo Sim tells her boss she is quitting TS Fitness after he interrogates her about her relationship with Tae Ho. Tae Ho senses something isn't right with Hyo Sim and rushes to her house. However, he runs into Hyo Sung as he is leaving her place. Meanwhile, Myung Hee offers the chairman of TV Live a proposal, and Sook Hyang sets Tae Ho in a trap when things look dire between Tae Min and Soo Kyung.
As Tae Ho falls into Sook Hyang's trap and gets taken away by the police, he asks Hyo Sung to look after Hyo Sim. Hyo Sim is shocked at the news, and she lets Tae Min know how horrible she feels when he comes to her about what happened with Soo Kyung. On the opening day of Sun Soon's cafe, Hyo Jun, who couldn't get over Mi Rim, shows up drunk and makes a mess. Meanwhile, Hyo Do meets with Tae Min, wanting to strike it rich, and tells him about Tae Hee.
Tae Ho's imprisonment exposes a distinct purpose, leading to Tae Min's interrogation visit. Recently released from prison, Tae Ho declares a management war against Sook Hyang and Jin Bum. Hyo Sim, spotting Tae Ho waiting for her outside her house, joyfully runs into his arms and informs him that her mother wants to meet him. Meanwhile, Mi Rim desperately searches for Hyo Jun.
Hyo Sim scolds Hyo Jun on behalf of Sun Soon, who has collapsed at the news of Mi Rim's pregnancy. Tae Ho grumbles sadly at Hyo Sim for having to leave Sun Soon's house. Myung Hee pressures Jin Bum to confess to the Daegwallyeong Pass incident, and later, Tae Min finds Jin Bum collapsed on the floor. Meanwhile, Sook Hyang frets about the prosecutor's investigation, and Mr. Yeom tells Tae Min that Myung Hee is behind it all.
Mi Rim's unexpected remarks turn Hyo Sim's house upside down, and Sun Soon falls ill again. Sook Hyang gets taken in for questioning by the prosecution, and Tae Ho searches for evidence one last time. Hyo Sung resorts to a loan shark for his children's education but runs into Hyo Do. Myung Hee reveals the truth to Tae Ho, but Tae Ho can't hide his bewilderment. Sun Soon succumbs to Mi Rim's determination and approves her wish to find her husband. Tae Min leaves his resignation letter and keeps himself out of sight, but Tae Ho finds him. Meanwhile, Hyo Do takes a beating from Mr. Yeom and his men when he goes to help Hyo Sung, and Sook Hyang offers TV Live a proposition that could destroy Taesan.
While Tae Ho and Tae Min stay up all night looking for a way to stop TV Live's attack on Taesan Group, they seem to become closer. Hyo Sim fervently spreads flyers to find her father and later comforts Tae Ho after learning about his relationship with Tae Min. Meanwhile, Tae Hee returns home after signing divorce papers and finds Mr. Yeom's attitude towards her suspicious.
Hyo Sim races to a piano academy and finds traces of her father there after hearing new information about him. Tae Ho warns Sook Hyang to leave Tae Min alone, and Sook Hyang plans to dump all crimes on Mr. Yeom. Ru Bi takes Pil Lip to Indangsu and learns everything about Hyo Sung's painful circumstances. Meanwhile, Jin Bum, who cannot contain his remorse, tells Tae Min the truth behind the Daegwallyeong incident.
Jin Bum apologizes to Tae Min and says he will go to prison. Hyo Sung accidentally finds a picture of a woman at the piano academy with Hyo Sim that they believe was where their father last stayed. Myung Hee gives Tae Min the dashcam footage of the Daegwallyeong Pass incident, and Tae Min and Tae Ho learn what happened. Meanwhile, Hee Ju tells Sun Soon that Tae Ho belongs to the family that runs Taesan Group, and Sun Soon calls Hyo Sim over right away.
Sook Hyang's longstanding deceitful behavior toward Mr. Yeom may soon have consequences. With Tae Min's help, Hyo Sung re-enters Taesan Group and persuades Hyo Sim to cease searching for their father. Tae Ho's visit to Uicheon Villa is an attempt to gain Sun Soon's approval for his marriage to Hyo Sim, but he is met with coldness from Sun Soon. Meanwhile, Tae Hee confides in Tae Min about a secret she has been keeping.

Hyo Sung finds Mr. Yeom's old phone and gives it to Tae Min, and Tae Ho gets in touch with Park Jin Myung. Tae Ho valiantly tries to win Sun Soon's heart, and Sun Soon is stunned at his behavior. Meanwhile, Kkeut Soon is shocked when she sees her grandson, who is supposed to be in the US, in the cafe. She and Hyo Sim track him down to find out more.
Tae Ho and Tae Min reunite with Park Jin Myung when he returns to Korea to give them crucial documents that will put Sook Hyang away for good. Kkeut Soon locks herself in her room after her heart breaks over her family. While Myung Hee tries to console her, Taesan Group requests her return, and she has no choice but to leave Uicheon Villa. Meanwhile, Sun Soon sobs when she sees how beautiful Hyo Sim is on the runway of a fashion show, and Tae Ho takes Hyo Sim to where they first meet to propose to her.
Hyo Sim meets her father, Chu Ryeon, who doesn't recognize her, and she reveals who she is in his hospital room. Hyo Sung meets Mi Hee, his music instructor from when he was a child. And through her, he learns why his father had left his family. Tae Ho takes Sun Soon to meet Myung Hee about his marriage to Hyo Sim. Meanwhile, Tae Ho and Hyo Sung get promotions for their parts in revealing the truth, and Hyo Sim meets Mi Hee when she goes to see Chu Ryeon again.
Tae Ho becomes upset at Hyo Sim's words to postpone their wedding, and they fight over it. Sun Soon reunites with Chu Ryeon but collapses out of bitter anger. She warns Hyo Sung and Hyo Sim never to think about giving Chu Ryeon their liver. Tae Ho asks Tae Min to postpone his promotion, and Hyo Jun goes to take his lawyer's exam. Meanwhile, Hyo Sim's family takes matters into their own hands to protect their family.
Knowing Hyo Sim went into the operating room to donate her liver, Sun Soon sobs in agony in front of the doors. While worrying about Hyo Sim for being out of touch, Tae Ho realizes something horrible has happened when he sees Hyo Sung missing from his desk. After the surgery, Hyo Sim questions her life while watching her family restabilize at her sacrifice. Meanwhile, Tae Hee and Tae Min visit Sook Hyang at the corrections facility, and Tae Ho rushes to the hospital when he finds out about Hyo Sim.
It's been one year since Hyo Sim left, but Tae Ho still waits for her. Carrot is born, and Hyo Jun becomes a lawyer. Besides that, all is the same at Hyo Sim's house. However, they all reflect on how inconsiderate they were to Hyo Sim as they live on. Tae Min picks up Jin Bum, who is getting released with a special pardon, at the prison.
