In Florida, recently divorced Karen Pannell, is found brutally slain in her own home and a name written with her blood; her boyfriend is on hand to help investigators find her killer--but investigators uncover a motive and deadly secrets. Meanwhile in San Diego, CA, Greg DeVillers, a newlywed and rising star in the Bio-Tech community, is found dead--in an apparent suicide. But the dramatic scene causes family and investigators to dig for answers, and what they find takes everyone by surprise.
Up-and-coming lawyer Michael Fletcher can barely keep it together as he calls police to his suburban Detroit home. Upon arrival, officers find Fletcher's wife, Leann, dead from an apparent accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. As detectives dig deeper, they uncover a connection to her death. Meanwhile, when firefighters in Palo Alto, CA, extinguish the flames from a burning house, they find the charred body of promising young realtor Jennifer Schipsi. Her boyfriend, Paul Zumot, collapses in tears when he learns the horrible news.
In Huntington Beach, CA, two well respected doctors, Carolyn and Ken Stahl, are found shot to death on the side of a highway. As police unravel this baffling case they find the power couple had a less than perfect marriage. And later, in a quiet suburb of Detroit, beautiful businesswoman Tara Grant disappears after returning home from a trip. When a bloody plastic bag is found in a nearby park, this missing persons case turns into a murder investigation.
