Season 1:
Probation officer Jack Denby's girlfriend Suzanne Pryce tells him she wants to leave London and move to Cardiff to be near her parents and taking her six year old daughter with her, but rather than face upto things Jack throws himself into his work.
Jack moves to cardiff to be with Suzanne and adjusts to his new job with the Cardiff Probation Service, his first case involves child abuse.
Jack, in his attempt to help a client being hounded by an elderly man seeking revenge over the death of his son, puts his daughters life in danger.
Jack is determined to uncover the truth about an old abuse case and why dose his boss' husband (a detective) take an extra special interest in the case of a murdered prostitute.
Jack persuades Suzanne to marry him but when their wedding day arrives Jack is forced to help a client whose life may be on the line.
Following their marriage Jack would like to officially adopt Kate but his new father in law is not so keen, meanwhile Jack becomes worried that Caroline is getting too involved with one of her clients.
