Collider Heroes Episode 40

Welcome to Collider’s Heroes, hosted by Jon Schnepp, with John Campea and special guest Robert Meyer Burnett. We bring you the latest news about the Cinematic World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Tuesday Jan 12th, 2016) we discuss the following: Batman v Superman: with the upcoming special on DC’s world of both film and television airing next week, the world got another tv spot during the NFL playoffs. This trailer got it back to what we all want to see, two of comic books biggest iconic characters squaring off, in this crazy “batmobile vs superman” scene. We see exactly what Superman is made of, ie immovable super strenght, as the batmobile richochets off him and smashes across from him, and we then see that the Batman is not shaken in the least bit by this alien, asking him “So, do you bleed?”. Let’s talk about what Superman heard as he flew off into the night…”you will” Captain America Civil War:! Now the Russos have been doing press for Captain America Civil War, along with Frank Grillo who plays Crossbones in the film, and they have been hinting about several big emotional moments that will be hitting viewers upon it release in May. Grillo, while in New Orleans doing press at the Wizard World Convention, states his character is out for revenge, “I think he's out for one thing and one thing only and that's to revenge what's happened to him." The Russos teased about several funeral’s as well. Will they actually follow through and do the Civil War storyline? DC Small Screen heats up! So in upcoming episodes of the various DC comic series, Supergirl is going to be fighting a Bizarro version of herself and having “For the man who has everything” adapted, Legends of Tomorrow has been having isolated character trailers and showing 1975 time travel clips, and showing the future fully goateed Arrow and future Flash in upcoming episodes, Vixen is joining the Arrow Series, Flash and Supergirl are going to crossover. What is happening on the small screen! This is insanity!! Ryan Coogler is officially directing Marvel’s Black Panther! So it’s finally been announced that Creed director Ryan Coogler will indeed be directing the feature film starring Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. The film is slated to come out Feb 18, 2018. What will be the focus of the standalone Black Panther feature? Minor Mutations 1 AoS spinoff “Marvel’s Most Wanted” gets a pilot 2 Daredevil Season 2 debuts March 18 3 Avengers: Infinity War will feature 67 Main Characters! 4 Preacher will premiere at SXSW 5 Chris Pine says he was never asked to be Green Lantern 6 Kevin Smith will be directing an episode of The Flash! Flashback - The Incredible Hulk (2008) This reboot feature happened after the luke warm reception to Ang Lee’s experimental “Hulk:, and this was the movie that was Marvel’s second film in the launch of their own new cinematic universe! Directed by Louis Leterrier, written by Zak Penn, and starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner and the Incredible Hulk! This film had a great opening in Brazil, it had some Kirby inspired Hulk fighting the Military, and it had a blowout battle with Tim Roth as The Abomination. Let’s get angry and talk about the incredible Hulk! Spotlight: MadMan by Mike Allred This week’s spotlight is on Mike Allred’s MadMan. Now if you go back 40 episodes, you will see I called this out, when I was covering three books at a time, and I want to highlight this series in particular. Frank Einstein has amnesia, and only remembers bits of his past life as a spy. He gets into crazy adventures with robots, aliens, secret agents, with a fun 1960’s inspired artistic flavor that rings through in every panel. I could see this being made in a current world with a mad hip art design to every set, and having incredible psychedelic music to go along with it. Would this comic book series best make the translation to film or television, animated or live action? Twitter Questions

Marvel also stakes out May 1st, July 10th, and Nov 5th 2020 for unknown marvel mystery movies. What will they be? My money is definitely on Guardians of the Galaxy part 3, and then perhaps Moon Knight, Howard the Duck, Nova, Warlock, Spirits of Vengeance or Midnight Sons film (Dr.Strange, Brother Voodoo, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, Morbius, Ghost Rider,Blade) and then finally Avengers: Secret Wars 4 Inhumans: Vin Diesal is Black Bolt Vin has dropped another hint of who he’s playing besides Groot, by saying “one role is my voice, while the other role is my presence”. Wonder who he’s talking about? 5 Watchmen coming to HBO? Zack Snyder has been in talks with HBO to bring the acclaimed graphic novel The Watchmen to the cable channel. Snyder already made a 2009 feature film adaptation! Is it a reboot, or will they adapt the recent “Before Watchmen” DC comic series, with most notable Darwyn Cookes “The Minutemen” series. Will Snyder reach out to the same cast, and will he expand his original movie to adapt even more of the comic book, to fill out his movie into a larger television series? 6 Daredevil Season 2 Trailer Well, here comes the second season teaser of “Daredevil”, and it’s got The Punisher and Electra, with Stick coming back as well. More importantly, Hamill and Conroy are back to speak Alan Moore’s dialog! Flashback: Fantastic Four (2005) The first official movie adaptation of the Fantastic Four comic book series, since the unofficial unreleased Roger Corman version of the early nineties, was a box office hit with a lukewarm critical reception. It had Chris Evans as the Human Torch, before he picked up Captain America’s shield. It was goifily directed by Tim Story, with a weird mix of uneven comedy and a stupid approach to the fantastic fours powers and making Doctor Doom an electrical powered foe. It made enough money to get a sequel. The first official adaptation, since the unreleased roger Forman nineties attempt, was a box office hit but was relieved lukewarm by critics and fans. Chris Evans played the Human Torch before he would hold Captain Americas shield. Let's talk about his film Spotlight: Deadman Another of DC's supernatural characters, Deadman tells the tale of Boston Brand, a circus high wire trapeze performer who is murdered and comes back for revenge. The series had haunting cinematic art by infant terrible Neal Adams, and when looking back at it now, could make a great movie or episodic procedural mixed with "the fugitive". It had contract killers, secret assassins, Hindu mysticism, ghosts, what else do you want! Twitter Questions

Anyway, the fake director of Superman 2 revealed his real inability to direct a Superman film without using most of Richard Donner’s directed material. Here comes the living abortion called “Superman 3”. This film really sucks, on so many levels. It’s a challenge to watch now, almost as bad as Superman 4 the quest for peace, which is the big winner of all time superman suckage. Let's chat about Superman 3. Spotlight: The Goon Eric Powell has created written and drawn an incredible universe filled with ghouls monsters zombies and demons, all populating a crazy town, but stay away from The Goon, or you’ll be sorry. This comic is incredible, the art is amazing, the writing original funny and grittily violent. This is being developed to be an animated movie, but I’d love to see it go into live action and animation as well. Twitter Questions: Sweaty Question of the Week

On this episode of Heroes (Tuesday, November 24th) Jon Schnepp, John Campea, and Umberto Gonzalez discuss: Batman vs Captain America vs Superman vs Iron Man! Dawn of Justice vs Civil War Batman vs Captain America vs Superman vs Ironman! Next year we have movies where the heroes not only go head to head against each other, but also square off with the opposing company universes for box office domination. Who is the real winner here?. The worst of all the Superman films that exist, possibly the worst superhero film ever made, this poisonous vapor-clump of super-stink destroyed the Superman movie franchise for over 17 years! Starring the amazing Christopher Reeve as Superman and Clark Kent, this Golan Globus production cut costs in every conceivable way, so that what ended up on screen was an eye burning laser beam to the brain, a painful lobotomy to all the senses, an embarrassing liquid poem made by a feral and starving animal chained up in a demented mutant’s basement. Spotlight: Planetary This weeks spotlight is on one of my favorite series, Planetary by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday. This comic follows time jumping time shifting future time agents who are involved in uncovering phenomenas of epic proportions, spanning thousands of years and multiverses. Warren Ellis just killed it with his creation of the three main characters, the hot and cold powered Elijah Snow, the IT super genius The Drummer, and the invulnerable super warrior Jakita Wagner, and their multiverse spanning jaw dropping explorations into the archetypes of popular comic book characters like The Shadow, Doc Savage and Godzilla. Like Kurt Busiek did with Astro City, Warren does with some of the golden age characters, as well as a diabolical version of the Fantastic Four simply called The Four. The artwork by John Cassaday is stunning and completely cinematic, making the translation from comic to movie or series very viewable within our own minds eye.

The Captain America Civil War Trailer dropped unexpectedly last week on the Jimmy Kimmel show, and what a trailer it was! Filled with incredible action and emotionally moving scenes! this trailer dropped my jaw, for it was way better than I was expecting! Green Lantern Corp is buddy space cops film, while Cyborg becomes Teen Titans! The DC Superteamup’s look like they might be happening, with “Cyborg” turning into a Teen Titans movie, and Green Lantern Corp being spoken about a buddy cop movie in space. Who doesn't want to see Lethal Weapon in Space? I know I do! If they smartly use the Marv Wolfman George Perez material to base their Teen Titans movie on, then it could actually be a hit. Spiderman begins shooting in Atlanta, with Ironman and Captain America?! Flashback - Batman & Robin (1997) The big dumb dumptruck, the better best big winner at the top of he sky high pile up that is superhero garbage city, The golden turd topping the top of all that stinks, yes, comic cryers and sweaty nerds, I speaketh of that which is called “Batman & Robin”. The worst of all the Batman films to ever exist, the worst superhero film ever made, a painful lobotomy to all the top senses, an aquatic stink fest of rotten celluloid, this embarassing franchise killing assembly of horrible ideas and even worse execution, that was most possibly made by a feral and starving neon animal chained up in a demented misguided mutant’s 1950’s timevault locked basement, was unleashed on us all in 1997. Let’s pour over the tepid stale crumbs of the dried stench that is “Batman & Robin”. Spotlight: BPRD This weeks spotlight is on a spinoff to Mike Mignola’s “HellBoy” comic series, with a supernatural superteam set up at the same spot that employs Hellboy, called the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, or BPRD. This team has enhanced Agents like Hellboy, all with different powers. Their is Abe Sapien, amphibious gillman, Liz Sherman, fire powered pyro, Johann Kraus, ectoplasmic medium, among others. Anthony Russo said that Spiderman has always been a part of the Captain America: Civil War storyline, and that they cast the young Tom Holland to be the age appropriate high schooler that Peter Parker is in this new incarnation. Spiderman and Antman enter the movie later and bring the laughs, while Black Panther enters the film early, is central to the story, and never picks a side like all the other characters. Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice Trailer 2! The second full length trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice dropped last wednesday, which features dialog between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, much much more Lex Luthor, and something that looked like a Teenage Ninja Abomination coming in and attacking both Batman and Superman. It’s been officially revealed that the “Knightmare Batman” chained up and fighting those parademons and a grim silent Superman seen in this trailer is indeed a nightmare that Bruce Wayne has in the movie. Speaking of those two guys who are really angry with each other, they are subsequently revealed to be pals at the end of the trailer, and fighting side by side with Wonder Woman right before the now useless somewhat deflated title appears. “Iron Fist” Netflix Series moves forward with Showrunner and Executive Producer! The series that many have been doubting might be made is now officially a go with Marvel bringing on Scott Buck to be the Showrunner and Executive Producer. Jeph Loeb says Scotts idea knocked them off their feet. Buck said "I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and “Iron Fist” to life with Marvel on Netflix."Here is the official Marvel Netflix Series Description: “Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” I’m looking forward to how they introduce Danny and Luke Cage, if they were friends before Rand disappeared, and how all these characters become the Defenders and what brings them all together. These diseased hybrids are tough for Blade and his eventual allies to fight, and this second feature brings with it that Del Toro style, amazing designs, and a great final fight. Let’s talk about Blade 2! Spotlight: Ronin by Frank Miller This week’s spotlight is on one of the first DC serialized graphic novels by Frank Miller, who has playing with Ninjas in his run on Daredevil, and went into deep scifi fantasy with “Ronin” which introduced us to a dark dystopian word of the future and the main character Billy, and armless legless savant who dreams of being a Ronin from the past. Billy has special powers, and indeed manifests not only this Ronin, but a Demon as well, and brings his Heavy Metal Sex fueled fantasies into this futuristic Reality with horrifying results. Welcome to Collider’s Heroes, hosted by Jon Schnepp, with John Campea and very special guests Robert Meyer Burnett, Editor and Director of Free Enterprise and Axanar, and Max Landis, writer of Chronicle, American Ultra, Victor Frankenstein, and the new comic book series Superman: American Alien. We bring you the latest news about the Cinematic World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Tuesday Dec 15th, 2015) we discuss the following X-Men :Apocalypse Trailer! The new Xmen film directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg just had its trailer drop. As I mentioned, the final look of Apocalypse is quite different from the purple ivan ooze picts that were scene earlier, with a new poster accompanying the trailer. Actor Oscar Isaacs had this to say "I love Apocalypse. I grew up collecting X-Factor. I remember when the first comic book came out, and for me, especially because I grew up in a religious household, I knew about the book of revelations, the second coming, the Apocalypse, and then you see this comic book character that is supposed to embody all of these ideas. For some people they just thought he was this big blue guy and it was survival of the fittest, but for me, that was less interesting. The most interesting part for me was the Blibical aspect and end of the world and the revelation of the way things were before." What are your thoughts on the newest Xmen Apocalypse Trailer?. Series vs Movies! We are at the point that in this coming year, we will have 7 big budget films and 11 serialized programs for us to watch in 2016. We have Deadpool, Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice, Captain America Civil War, Xmen Apocalypse, Dr.Strange, and Gambit in theaters, while we have Daredevil, Arrow, Luke Cage, Flash, Agents of Shield, Gotham, Legends of tomorrow, Agent Carter, Preacher, The Walking Dead, and Supergirl in our living rooms. As we move forward into the coming years, what delivery formats will be the dominant ones? The Legend of Tarzan Trailer! Jungle swinging man raised by apes is back on the big screen, played by muscled Alexander Skarsgard as The king of the Jungle, with Margot Robbie as Jane. Will this Tarzan hit the right roar with the audience? Star Trek Beyond Trailer! Star Trek has had many lives via comic books, and has gone through many different television series and films. The newest trailer dropped for the third film that exists in some sideways pocket-universe multiverse transdimensional place, separate from all the other Star Treks. “Sabotage the system”. Let’s talk about this Beastie Boy themed trailer. Deadpool Holiday Viral Marketing ! The merc with the mouth has got quite a fun campaign going on right now, as Ryan Reynolds goes hangs with kids during Halloween, smashes Mario Lopez with a chair announcing the R Rating, and now, a egg noggy intro to the 12 days leading up the the newest trailer on xmas. Also, wait till you get a load of the newest poster. Let’s talk about this upcoming film, and the effect the marketing is having. Bigger, Badder, and in my own opinion, better than the first Hellboy, Guillermo got to have some fun this time, expanding the roles of Abe Sapien and Liz and the really fun ectoplasmic Johann Krauss, and Hellboy gets a little closer to his final destiny, but first must battle the Golden Army. Let’s talk Hellboy 2 Spotlight: The Death Ray by Daniel Clowes This week’s spotlight is on one of the most recent graphic novels written by the fantastically talented Daniel Clowes, of Ghost World and Art School Confidential fame. With this story, he tracks two friends, Andy and Louie, and their lives from kids to adults, and their relationship with a “Death Ray” toy gun that may or may not have magical powers to make people disappear. Would this book make the translation to film like some of his other works?

Krysten Ritter for Jessica Jones season 2 and the Defenders? Jessica Jones herself Krysten Ritter recently spoke positively about her hope to get a second season rolling for her character, saying there is lots of story left to tell with Jessica, and she would throw on the boots and leather jacket anytime. Do you think she’ll be in Luke Cage, Daredevil season 2, before she’s in the Defenders? Kurt Russell might play Star Lord’s dad?! Can we please make this happen, I mean it’s Kurt Russell. He has just rocked it with The Hateful Eight and Bone Tomahawk, and the list: Escape from New York, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, .I think the idea of using the original earthman Vance Astro, an astronaut who later became Major Victory would work with the time periods set up with young Peter Quill aka Star Lord. We had the rogues gallery represented by Ceasar Romero as The Joker, Burgess Meredith as the Penquin, Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, and Lee Meriwether as the Catwoman on screen, which was played by Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt on the television series. This pop comedy styled film was written by Lorenzo Semple Jr,and directed by Leslie Martinson, who just turned 100 years old this year!! . This was the way the modern world looked at comic books, and superheroes in general, as comedic fluff entertainment, and what fluff it was! I saw the series on TV as little kid, and this version of Batman was so entertaining, so action packed, with wild colorful villains every episode, and I had a crush on Yvonne Craig as Batgirl! This was before comics entered the 70’s, and way before we got the grim and gritty dark knight detective. Let’s talk about nanananananana Batman!!! Spotlight: Invincible This week’s spotlight is on a superhero written by “The Walking Dead’s” own Robert Kirkman and artist Corey Walker, and the title is called “Invincible” about a high school kid who develops superhuman powers, finds out his dad is a super powered alien sent as a scout to prep a hostile takeover, and he must ultimately battle his dad, all the while falling in love and befriending all types of superpowered aliens and various superheroes and villains.Would this comic book series best make the translation to film or television? We bring you the latest news about the Cinematic World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Tuesday Jan 4th, 2015) we discuss the following: JS 2016 INTRO: We have got quite an incredible year in store for those of us who enjoy superheroes and supervillains in movies and television. We’ve got Deadpool, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War, Xmen:Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Gambit, and Doctor Strange on the Big Screen, and The Flash, Agent Carter, Preacher, Arrow, Luke Cage, The Walking Dead, Gotham, Agents of Shield, Lucifer, Daredevil, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl all hitting the small screen. What is going on!!! Madness I say, what a time to be a comic nerd and loving every minute of it! On every episode of Collider Heroes, we will be covering all of this and more, so thanks for watching here we go into the new year! The Doctor is IN!!! Doctor Strange News!!! So EW dropped the first character picts of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, as well as stunning concept art of astral travel and his sanctum sanctorum. We’ve seen that the film closely follows his origin in the comics, and Kevin Feige says they are keeping that Steve Ditko look in the dimensional travel that goes on in the film. Cumberbatch has mentioned how he himself uses meditation, Tilda Swinton has stated her character The Ancient One to be androgynous, Chewetel Ejiofor has said Baron Mordo is both a hero and villain, and Mads Mikkelson is set to be the villain, but who, is he Mephisto, Nightmare, or Dormammu? Daredevil vs Batman? Daredevil season 2 is debuting in late March, and now it seems to be on the exact day that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is opening, March 25th. If this does indeed happen, what will this do to the BvS box office, if anything? Deadpool 2nd Trailer is better than the first! As we edge towards the first big Superhero film of the year’s release, we got another trailer released on christmas day, and this one was a doozy, funnier than the first, with more of that Ryan Reynolds flavor. How crazy is this film going to be, and can it be better than this viral marketing campaign that i never want to end? Minor Mutations 1 Firestorm is now Deathstorm in Flash Season 2 2 Hemsworth wants Thor to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Lex Luthor Super Armor seen in BvS Toy Release? 4 James Gunn has seen Civil War, says “one of Marvel’s best movies ever” 5 Ant-man hitches a ride on Hawkeyes Bow in promo pict (cover of Avenger #223 side by side) Flashback - Batman 1989 Spotlight: Black Hole by Charles Burns Twitter Questions

Episode 40: Collider Heroes Episode 40 (Jan 12, 2016)

Welcome to Collider’s Heroes, hosted by Jon Schnepp, with special guests Amy Dallen and Umberto Gonzales. We bring you the latest news about the World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Tuesday Jan 18th, 2016) we discuss the following: Avengers Infinity War: The Ultimate Teamup? The Russos dropped some more information about the upcoming two parter Avengers Infinity War, saying “"We were being figurative when we said [67 characters] and people took it as literal but there’s a lot of characters. Infinity War is meant to be the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe up to that point. It’s very ambitious in its scope, it wants to take everythign that you’ve seen before and coalesce into some kinda of climactic ending. It’s complicated , ambitious storytelling…We’re not talking about lead characters, just people that make an appearance." They are shooting both films at the same time, mixing the shoot up between parts 1&2, over the next year in Atlanta, and all over the world. Deadpool screened and gets rave reviews, see also banned in China! Deadpool has officially been banned in China! Too much hard R secret sauce! Then it gets a secret screening last night, and from what collider.com has reported on their website, the people who have seen this film are RAVING about it! I’m reading these reactions, and I’m talking Klaus Kinski Werner Herzogs Ravings going on! Granted this is a select group of nerds who got to flavor sample this, going to what they thought was going to be a few select scenes. Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds was at the NY screening, while director Tim Miller, creator Rob Liefeld, actors TJ Miller and Brian Hildenbrand, writers Rhett reese and Paul Wernick, producer Simon Kinberg, and the legendary Stan Lee himself attended the LA screening. Jessica Jones Season 2, The Punisher coming to Netflix! The great news justs keeps getting greater over on Netflix, as news broke of a second season for Jessica Jones, as well as The Punisher possibly getting a season order? Bernthal says "He’s a guy who brought the war home with him [in] the worst possible way." while Krysten Ritter instagrammed “Cats outta the bag! Season two baby! #JessicaJones GIRLS MAKIN SOME NOISE!!!! let’s talk about the netflix marvel universe! Hellfire Club delayed, Legion not in Xmen universe Fox is bringing xmen characters to the small screen, with two series, and now we’ve learned more about each one. Wirth Hellfire Club, it’s production has been delayed since its showrunners left to work on the new 24 reboot, and Legion is happening, but will exist in its own universe, not connected to the cinematic Xmen world. Will it be connected to Hellfire Club? Minor Mutations 1 Ben Affleck is “inspired” to possibly direct The Batman 2 The Flash Season 2 trailer goes to Earth 2, with new Deathstorm & Killer Frost! 3 Amber Heard cast as Mera in Aquaman 4 Elektra wears classic costume in Daredevil season 2 5 Iron Fist casting the lead is in progress 6 Gal Gadot holds her sword and shield onset picts! 7 Luke Cage might be wearing his Classic Costume in his netflix series 8 Suicide Squad gets 10 Skullfaced Character Posters Flashback - Scott Pilgrim vs The World (2008) Spotlight: The New Gods by Jack Kirby This week’s spotlight is on Jack Kirby’s incredible superteam of new gods and villains, published in 1971. We are introduced to Orion and his world of New Genesis, a utopian world, in constant battle with a warlike planet called Apokolips, ruled by the overlord Darkseid. This evil being also happens to be Orion’s dad, and the two do battle for the serie run. This cosmic series was Kirby jumping over to DC, from his co-creations at Marvel that he did with Stan Lee, of which he was never properly credited. Many have said George Lucas was heavily influenced by these comics while in college, and applied this to Luke and Darth Vader’s father/son relationship. Well, Kevin dropped this bomb yesterday “We did a piece where we talked about how DC is known for nothing if not a multiverse,' so at which point I was like [to Johns], 'Could they fucking crossover?' And he was like, 'Ahh.' So doors are being left open and stuff like that." Welcome to Collider’s Heroes, hosted by Jon Schnepp, with guests John Campea, Robert Meyer Burnett and very special guest Rob Liefeld. We bring you the latest news about the World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Tuesday February 2nd, 2016) we discuss the following: Deadpool Mania! With a week left before the first superhero film of 2016 opens, we’ve got a cubic ton of Deadpool viral marketing and pre-movie mayhem to enjoy! From the Breast Cancer Exam commercial to Ryan Reynolds cracking us up on the Graham Norton show from across the pond, now we’ve got Deadpool giving away Chimichangas at the Superbowl, with a new special trailer to debut, and all of us will be seeing the film in IMAX this week! Let’s talk Deadpool! How funny do we want “Thor:Ragnarok”! So after the news of Director Taika Waititi of the comedy series “Flight of the Concords” and the comedic mockumentary “What we do in the Shadows” sank in, I understood that because the script was reportedly so heavy and dark, that they wanted someone with a lighter touch to direct the film, and add some moments of humor to the film. Here is a quote from Taika “whether or not the Hulk should be verbal/conscious, I think those conversations have more to do with what’s going to come in future movies, so I think those are larger group decisions”. He also stated he wants to be able to add his brand of humor when it needs it. How funny do we want the Hulk and Thor to be? Legends of Tomorrow Guests! Flash meets Supergirl! DC TV explosion! Legends of tomorrow has time-jumping and features Constantine, Jonah Hex, Hourman, Red Tornado, and a much older Green Arrow from a future multiverse who is missing an arm (dark knight returns!), while the Flash has ripped into the Multiverse, and her comes a “Crisis from infinite earths” storyline to feature the crossover between Flash and Supergirl?! Let’s talk about this! Minor Mutations 1 Wolverine 3 starts shooting in April with Jackman and Stewart 2 Luke Cage vs NYPD in latest onset picts 3 Batman v Superman 5th spot: Mercy!!! 4 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 got is first table read, Starlord’s dad and villains cast 5 Paul Rudd talks about Expanding Ant-Man role! 6 New Justice League Cartoon announced for CN Flashback - Wolverine: Origins (2005) Spotlight: Rob Liefeld Twitter Questions

Let’s talk about Captain america Civil War, 2 plane promos for BvS, Ninja Turtles 2, Xmen:Apocalypse and Deadpool! Two different cuts to ending of “Captain America: Civil War”! So the newest rumor which could be spoilery is that the film ends with one of two shot endings, Cap walking away with the new team of secret Avengers, or Crossbones killing Cap just like in the Comics, with plans to have him out of Avengers infinity War Part 1, and then being brought back by the Infinty Stones in part 2. Which ending do you think is most probable and why? Legends of Tomorrow Guests! Flash meets Supergirl! DC TV explosion! Legends of tomorrow has time-jumping and features Constantine, Jonah Hex, Hourman, Red Tornado, and a much older Green Arrow from a future multiverse who is missing an arm (dark knight returns!), while the Flash has ripped into the Multiverse, and her comes a “Crisis from infinite earths” storyline to feature the crossover between Flash and Supergirl?! Collider Heroes Episode 45
Episode 45: Collider Heroes Episode 45 (Feb 16, 2016)
Watch this very special episode of Collider Heroes with Jon Schnepp, Robert Meyer Burnett, Umberto ‘El Mayimbe’ Gonzalez and our own Editor-in-Chief Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub, as they talk all things Deadpool — spoilers, discussion, and speculation moving forward. What could Deadpool’s success at the box office mean for the franchise, and what could it mean for the now hot ‘hard R’-rated superhero movies out there in development? Did we mention this is a SPOILER discussion? Because it is. If you haven’t seen Deadpool yet, what’s wrong with you? Go out and see this movie. For the rest, let’s dive in with Jon and his guests. To start, Jon, El Mayimbe, Robert and Frosty loved the movie, needless to say. The guys all comment on their personal experiences and some of their specific reactions. And everyone agreed – the movie reinvigorated the genre because it focused on its source material, and by doing so, managed to give the audiences something different in a very special way. The guys also discuss one of the big winners in all this – the viral marketing campaign that 20th Century Fox mobilized in a perfect way. This led to a great discussion about what they all loved about the marketing, with some of their favorite examples. Deadpool’s success also traveled throughout the industry as well. Robert even shares a story about what X-Men director Brian Singer thought of the movie, and especially, if they kept a very funny joke in the finished cut. Even the supporting cast gets a ton of mentions from the crew. Everyone chimes in on some of their favorite characters in the movie – as well as one particular mutant that finally got his chance to shine! The guys all talked about their favorite parts of the movie — the love story. Despite teases from the marketing for the movie showing posters that were for a romantic comedy (of all things), everyone was impressed with how they pulled off the love story. From all of that to the Easter Eggs (there are too many things to mention in one post), to its connection to the bigger X-Men universe and whether or not we’ll ever see our favorite mutants in the same movie with Deadpool, the guys all go into some behind-the-scenes talk, and speculate on what to expect moving forward. And of course, they also discuss the mega-sonic-amazing action set pieces and style that was some of the best action in any movie – comic book or otherwise. It’s a thorough look at every side of Deadpool, so enjoy!

Captain America: Civil War Trailer, now with SPIDER-MAN! This newest trailer for Captain America: Civil War is a perfect “trailer” sequel to the last civil war trailer, advancing the story in increments, while delving into the supporting characters and what they are going to be doing during this war. Does Rhodes bite the dust? Where’s Zemo? Who is in the right, Cap or Iron Man? What is Scarlet Witch doing to the Vision? When do they hook up?! Check out all the flavor that Black Panther got going on!!! Check out the all new all different Spiderman, holding cap’s shield, telling the world, thats right, Spiderman is back, and Marvel’s got him! This trailer was incredible! International Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Alright, just when we thought we’ve seen enough, an international trailer goes online, and I’m more amped to see this movie than ever before. Batman headbutts Superman!!! This trailer basically just cleaned up all the other trailers, smashed them together and then added some extra super sauce to blow my mind! Every new scene that they add just builds the excitement that will be all next week!! Let’s talk about this!!! Marvel Series Explosion! The head of Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, recently commented that they’ve got over 12 different Marvel TV shows in active development. Here’s the list so far: Daredevil - Luke Cage - Iron Fist - Jessica Jones - The Defenders Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Agent Carter - Marvel's Most Wanted - Damage Control Untitled John Ridley superhero - Untitled Marvel superhero comedy - Empire of the Dead . What could possibly be next? Let’s talk about it! Minor Mutations: · Preacher premieres May 22 at 10pm · Suicide Squad New Team Poster plus Joker! · More Civil War Action Posters · Deadpool passes 700 million worldwide · Shredder’s new look revealed · First image from The Killing Joke Flashback: Daredevil (2003) On the heels of the success of Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man, lots of comic book superheroes got optioned and developed, and Daredevil was one of the the next films out of the gates. Ben Affleck was cast as attorney Matt Murdock, with Jennifer Garner playing Elektra, Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin, and Colin Farrell bringing a psychotic turn as Bullseye, this movie adaptation tried to merge lots of the famous comic run of Frank Miller, alongside Daredevil’s origin story. Spotlight: Atlas Comics This weeks spotlight shines on Atlas Comics, and their superhero brand of characters. I remember this series of comics best from my childhood, with The Destructor, Grim Ghost, Iron Jaw, Wulf the Barbarian, Tiger-Man, Planet of Vampires, Man-Monster, Demon-Hunter, Man-Stalker, and The Brute all peeking my monster obsessed interests. They had talents like Steve Ditko and Rich Buckler handling the art, while This series had a strange vibe to each comic, offbeat and weird, combining monsters with heroes, and attempting to create their own universe with some crossovers. Could this collection of superhero/monster properties make a good television series or feature film?

It's finally here! The older fans have been waiting their entire lives to see these two characters in the same movie; whether they are friend or foe, this is it! Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice is finally being released this week and it's going to be a blockbuster with a predicted $350 million global weekend! This film not only pits the two iconic titans against each other but it also introduces Wonder Woman; as well as Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg to the big screen. The film is years in the making, and we’ve been following its every move since its announcement at SDCC! So the panel goes right to it with an epic discussion about BvS, with thoughts about what the future holds for the DC Movie Universe! Daredevil Season 2: Fully Binged!!! (SPOILER ALERT) Can you believe that we have an episodic series of the character Daredevil? And we just got another season which amplified everything that the first season set up. And it just got better! We have the further adventures of Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil, alongside Foggy and Karen, as they deal with Frank Castle The Punisher and Matt’s old murder-flame, Elektra. We’ve got Stick, we’ve got The Hand; we’ve got incredible action, and we’ve got the ying-yang debate of what Daredevil stands for as everything he believes is pulled and pushed and torn away from him by his enemies and then, ultimately, himself. It's now the panel's turn to discuss their thoughts about the groundbreaking series so be wary of spoilers as we dive in! Minor Mutations: ◾LEGO Batman images released ◾Cancelled Amazing-Spiderman 3 ◾Preacher SXSW Premiere more gory and violent than Walking Dead ◾Jeremy Renner would like a Netflix Hawkeye series ◾Miles Teller talks Fantastic Four backlash ◾Amber Heard & Jason Momoa are gearing up for Justice League ◾Lobo is back in production! Flashback: Man of Steel (2013) The controversial reboot made after the softly received Richard Donner homage sequel of Bryan Singer’s 2006 Superman Returns, this new vision of Superman came from The Dark Knight Trilogy pair of Christopher Nolan and David Goyer. It is a film that takes a look at the mythology that has been built up over the last 75+ years for the character; which places him in our world today making decisions that have many fans split right down the middle. Watchmen director Zack Snyder was hired to helm this new version, and with it he brought Superman into the new millennium. Schnepp likes to think of all comic book movies as 'Elseworlds' versions because in comics, these characters are constantly changing with the times. This is a version of Superman that is reflecting our times that we live in now; with a story that pushes those themes and ideas forward revealing just what this alien must do to eventually become “Superman.” Spotlight: The Demon This week’s spotlight shines on another of Jack “King” Kirby’s creations, called The Demon. This demon was conjured by Merlin, and fought Morgana Le Fey, but was bonded to one of King Arthur's knights named Jason Blood. This Jekyll and Hyde identity causes immortality with Jason Blood ending up as a Demonologist that fights other monsters and demons across time - speaking in rhymes and, occasionally, teaming up with other supernatural heroes like Swamp Thing. Could The Demon make a good television series or feature film?

Doc Savage is indeed the very first super-man, introduced in the pulp magazine that brought us The Shadow, and The Phantom. In fact many say Doc Savage was the inspiration for Superman! The Rock announced the casting via his Facebook page saying that the #1 reason he is most excited... is because "HE'S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO!" The panel talk all about the Doc Savage film and what The Rock and Shane Black will bring to the adaptation. X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office and the Future X-Men: Apocalypse opened here in the states to a solid $65 million, much less than was expected; with mixed critical reviews and audience word of mouth affecting the box office. Is this a done deal, and will they introduce him the same way they did for the Incredible Hulk? How will they get him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Will they immediately throw him into the Infinity Wars pool of heroes, or wait until their upcoming Fantastic Phase Four is set into motion? Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre, Zatanna, Swamp Thing? Will we get The Demon or Mandrake? Superman Added to Supergirl in Season 2! So we finally get Superman back on the small screen! With Supergirl moving from CBS to the CW for her second season, word is that the Man of Steel will be appearing for the first time (not counting a shadowy appearance) in his cousin’s series. Can this signal the return of Smallville’s Tom Welling, or will they cast a new Superman? Brie Larson is frontrunner for Captain Marvel Oscar Winner Brie Larson (Short Term 12, Room) has been named the front runner for the role of Carol Danvers, aka Marvel's first feature length lead heroine Captain Marvel. This leads us to wonder how will they introduce her into the Marvel cinematic Universe. It would make sense to get her involved in the Infinity War, and possibly get her origin wrapped into it as well, before we go into her own feature. How will Captain Marvel be introduced? Flash Hires Dope New Director The feature film version of The Flash has a new director in Rick Famuyiwa, who recently directed the incredible independent film called Dope. In two days, DC’s third film in their cinematic shared universe opens across the country, everyone is waiting on this with baited breath and a few of us here at the table have seen it. Let’s give a few non-spoilery opinions on “Suicide Squad”! Avengers: Infinity War is now one movie, not two! Well, the two part war has become one movie, and this leads us to wonder, what will be the shakeout as far as characters surviving the Infinity War? Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently stated “"When we lock ourselves in a room with the Russo brothers and a couple of execs from Marvel, one wall has cards for movie one and the other wall has cards for movie two and another wall has little baseball cards of every character still alive in the Marvel universe - down to Darcy's boyfriend in Thor 2. Let’s call it early, who lives, who dies in Avengers: Infinity War? Superman Lives..on TV’s Supergirl!!! This past week we have seen the official press photo of Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman next to Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, and now we have seen some picts from them on set shooting. Higher Tier Inhumans featured in Agents of Shield Season 4 So besides the newer version of Ghost Rider, who wears a skull mask and drives a car not a bike, The Inhumans, namely the actual original core crew, like Karnak, Triton, Medusa, and Black Bolt, have been cleared for use in the TV show. Will the giant teleporting mutant dog named Lockjaw show up, or will we actually get the Story of Black Bolt? We bring you the latest news about the World of Heroes and Villains! On this episode of Collider’s Heroes (Wednesday August 10th, 2016) we discuss: -Man of Steel 2 in active development -X-men TV series moving forward -Suicide Squad smashes box office records -New Luke Cage trailer -Minor mutations -Flashback: Judge Dredd -Spotlight: Magnus Robot Fighter -Twitter questions First we got the new Superman on the small screen in the CW series “Supergirl”, and now the news we’ve been waiting five years to officially hear, that WB and DC are actively moving forward with Man of Steel 2! Now that we’ve dealt with the death of Superman and his eventual resurrection in Justice League, the official sequel will put Superman back in his own world, and who will he be up against? Metallo, Parasite, Luthor, Brainiac? It looks like Matt Nix’s X-men TV series is moving forward, with Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb stating "As an X-Men fan, and ultimately, what Matt brings to it is that the X-Men are always stories about family. That's where they start, that's where they live." Fox CEO Dana Walden added “There will be some iconic characters but mostly this is about a new family. The “Suicide Squad” has smashed box office records, pulling in $135 million for its american weekend debut! With many many critics not taking to the squad, and a very large divide between the mainly negative “Rotten Tomatoes” reviews and the audiences totally eating the squad up with positive exit polls! What will the next weeks box office bode for this film? The full length trailer for Luke Cage has arrived, and this series looks awesome!! We’ve got his origin with a tasty cameo callback to his original outfit design, we’ve got Cottonmouth and gangs battling in Harlem, we’ve got the Rosario Dawson connective thread for all the Netflix marvel shows, and in the middle of it all is Mike Colter’s Luke Cage! Minor Mutations Flashback - Judge Dredd (1995) Spotlight: Magnus Robot Fighter Twitter Questions

Episode 70: Collider Heroes Episode 70 (Aug 17, 2016)
Welcome to the 70th Episode of Collider’s Heroes, hosted by Jon Schnepp, with guests John Campea, Amy Dallen, and special guest Jeremy Jahns. So we pretty much can guess that Michael Keaton is playing the Vulture, but now word comes that Bokeem Woodbine is playing The Shocker, and both of these villains are getting their power suits from a disgruntled Tony Stark employee codenamed The Tinkerer, played by Michael Chernus! Jason Momoa will be the brand new Crow! So Jason Momoa has had his fair share of playing superheroes with Conan and now Aquaman, but it looks like he will be playing one of the darkest and gothiest superheroes ever if he does indeed play Eric Draven aka The Crow! He let it leak on his instagram that he is in final talks to take on the role to be directed by Corbin Hardy based very closely to James O’ Barr’s comic series. Shazam! Will be part of the DCEU As we move forward in production of feature films in the DCEU, “Shazam” has finally said they will indeed be part of this shared cinematic universe. Dany Garcia, Dwayne Johnson’s manager stated “It needs to be of the world, You’ve got Justice League, Wonder Woman with a different director, so you’re going to see different points of view.” They have complete autonomy, but will make sure that the idea of Batman and Superman and the other heroes existing in the same world as Shazam. Kevin Smith directs “Supergirl Lives”, Joss Whedon directing Musical Crossover for Flash/Supergirl! It looks like a great year for TV’s DC universe, as two great directors head over to direct some episodes. First, we’ve got Kevin Smith directing a Supergirl episode aptly named “Supergirl Lives”, as a tip of the cape to his “Superman Lives” screenplay he wrote, which you can find out all about in my documentary movie “The Death of ‘Superman Lives’; What Happened? Then we’ve got Joss Whedon directing and rocking crossover Musical episodes with The Flash and Supergirl, in the tradition of his Buffy and Dr.Horribles Singalong. Spiderman has had its Mary Jane, and she’s been sitting under our noses this whole time, when it was revealed that Zendaya is actually playing Mary Jane and not a character named Michelle. Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders! Holy Flashback DVD, Batman! We’ve got the return of the dynamic duo, Adam West and Burt Ward, from the 60 ultra campy Batman television series, in an all new feature film. Spawned from the big success of the DC comics recent Batman 66, this movie also feature original Catwoman Julie Newmar, in what seems to promise a fun return to the biff bang pow world we loved so much before Frank Miller’s Dark Knight really took hold and changed Batman forever. Thor Ragnorak: Are the Asgardians visiting Stephen Strange? Thor Ragnorak is chugging forward with principal photography, and recent set photos have revealed a certain address that Thor is going to visit, and that is Dr. Strange, while we have set picts revealing Anthony Hopkins in some dirty earth clothes, perhaps playing a deranged insane street person? Are we looking at a brand new MCU for Phase 4?! Joe and Anthony Russo recently spoke about Avengers Infinity War and its giant cast, and how it will be a setup to rock what we know about the MCU. Anthony said “For us, there's a narrative continuity between the movies, and each movie is in many ways setting the stage for the ones that follow. For us, we have a very specific through-line for all those films.” Minor Mutations Flashback - Wanted (2008) Spotlight: Mr. Monster Twitter Questions
