Season 1:
Joanna travels from the very south of the country all the way to the foothills of the Himalayas. In Madurai she explores the dazzling Meenakshi temple. At the Western Ghats, Joanna meets old friend Robin Brown who has spent half his life travelling through India on his beloved motorbike. After perusing the jewellery markets of Hyderbad, Joanna explores the world’s biggest film studio complex for new movie industry, Tollywood. And her journey ends four hundred miles north of Calcutta, in Sikkim, at the foot of the Himalayas.
Joanna visits the Maharaja of Dungarpur who shows her around his lakeside palace, a Dalit community in Gujarat, considered India's lowest caste, and the enormous World One Tower.
Joanna Lumley ends her amazing 5,000 mile journey in the place where she was born, Srinagar in Kashmir. In Dharamsala, she has a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
