Season 1:
December 2010. Retired school teacher Christopher Jefferies, a Bristol resident in his 60s, goes through his orderly morning routine. However, Christopher’s life is about to be turned inside out when one of his tenants, Joanna Yeates, disappears without a trace just before Christmas. As the investigation gathers momentum suspicion soon turns to those who live close to her and as a keyholder and landlord Christopher is questioned. What follows is a descent into chaos and a living nightmare for Jefferies.
Following his release from police custody, Christopher Jefferies remains on bail and housebound at his friend Charles’s home. Meanwhile in Holland, Jefferies’s other tenant is questioned and arrested by police. Despite being cleared by the police, Christopher still feels the stigma of his arrest has affected his public and professional life. Making a decision to fight back and clear his reputation, he embarks upon a journey that will take him through the courts of justice and back into the spotlight.
