Season 1:
In 1979 Irish Minister for Health, Charles J. Haughey confounds his critics and succeeds in his bid to become Taoiseach, championed by a close circle of allies.
In 1982, Charles J Haughey seizes his opportunity to regain power and to lead Ireland onto the stage of World politics - but domestic complications conspire to bring him down.
It's 1989 and Charles J Haughey has been leading Ireland for a few years but the majority he has always craved remains elusive. A bid for absolute power and a fitting legacy leaves him exposed as his enemies circle.
