Doctor Finlay (1993)
Following his service in World War II, Doctor Finlay returns to the practice at Arden House. This is at a time when the National Health Service is about to be instituted.

Season 4:
Dr. Finlay treats a local celebrity of sorts, the Brigadier, a much decorated soldier and highly respected member of the community. He's come down with a high fever and Finlay decides to hospitalize him where he is eventually diagnosed a having typhus. A group of itinerant Irish farm workers also arrives in the area and the locals are not keen with their presence. Mob rule takes over when the Brigadier takes turn for the worse and many in the community blame the workers for bringing disease with them. An ex-colonial couple just back from India give Dr Napier cause for concern - who is their daughter and why is the husband against any contact with her?
Janet is shocked when she arrives at Arden House only to find a newborn baby abandoned on the doorstep. For Doctor Finlay, their options are limited to one and he wants to phone the police and the child welfare authorities. Dr. Napier however thinks she knows who the mother might be recalling questions a young woman had once asked her. It turns out to be more complicated than she had imagined and as time drags on, Dr. Finlay becomes more and more concerned about the legality of what they are doing. He's also worried about what the patients might think if they hear a baby on the premises. Meanwhile, Angus decides to act on a customer's comment and buys Janet a present. He's not quite sure what to make of her reaction however
