Season 5:
Penny takes an overdose, and Charlie's message goes unheard. Ernie tells Elly he is in love with Sally. Max's romantic liaison is sabotaged by Bonnie.
Penny finds out where Charlie is, but her ordeal is not yet over. Bonnie meddles in Max and Nikki's relationship. Jojo is unhappy with Sally's presence at the pub.

Max tries to persuade Nikki to come back to E Street. Jack digs into Laura's past. Penny and Bronco talk things over. Sally tells Ernie the truth about her health.
Nikki and Bonnie are at loggerheads. Ernie tries to reassure Sally about their budding relationship. Penny falls foul of the law when she snatches Charlie back from Bronco.
Bronco serves Penny with a restraining order. Ernie makes a grand romantic gesture to Sally. Jack grows suspicious of Laura. Nikki discovers Elly has given her old job to the worst person possible.
Nikki takes drastic action, leaving Bonnie all tied up. Sally worries about taking things to the next level with Ernie. Jamie finds Penny and Bronco in a compromising position. Laura gets a phone call giving her a shocking ultimatum.
Elly finds Bob at the church and realises he his dead. She lets out a terrifying scream, which shocks Jack into the realisation of what he has done. When Bob has been taken to the morgue, Elly tells Jack that he has killed his own brother and the man she loves. Martha and George break the news to everyone at the pub and nobody understands why Bob died when the operation had been such a success. Di tells Penny that Bronco is lying to her and that she never knew he wanted to divorce her to live with Penny. Penny confronts Bronco and when he admits he has been lying she tells him to leave. However he turns violent and rapes her. Jack arrives at the funeral and delivers the eulogy. He tells everyone he realises they hate him because Bob has died, and he understands that. However he wants them to know he loved Bob too. Jack throws his gun into the sea signifying the end of his dangerous life and Elly places a single red rose on Bob’s grave, telling him she will never, ever forget him.
Jack meets Laura's ex Mark and is not impressed. Mark arrives for the screening of Laura's story and Jack is furious when he appears in the film.
