Season 1:
The Hansons must cope with the return of their progeny to the nest. The first thing to go down the drain is Fred's dream of sailing around the world.
Jackie puts a wedge in Fred's golf plans when she volunteers him to drive the kids to school and to baby-sit them when they return.
Jackie and Judy try to bond while redecorating Mike's old bedroom.
Fred and Jackie leave irresponsible Rick in charge of the kids when they are offered rush tickets to Barbra Streisand; and Rick takes the kids along on a drug bust.
Fred gets Mike an interview at his old company, Nike; but Mike isn't sure he wants to follow in his father's sneakers.
After Peter gets into a fight at school, Fred gives him some pointers in the fine art of fisticuffs—including how to deliver a sucker punch.
Fred still has an axe to grind when his neighbour comes over to bury the hatchet on their 20-year feud over a tree that blocks Fred's view of Mount Hood.
Rick thinks he's found true love when Judy's best friend kisses him after a bridal shower. Then he discovers she is the bride-to-be....
After a couple makes a lucrative offer on the Hanson house, Fred is ready to sell and set sail for San Diego. But first he needs to get Judy on board.
Sarah exhibits a talent for chess and becomes a pawn in a struggle between Fred and Mike over how to guide her -- especially when Fred enters her in a chess tournament without telling Mike.
Jackie fears that she and Fred are not spending enough time together, so she plans a trip to France and signs them up for French lessons; then Fred gets better grades than she does.
