Season 1:
Following the death of his superior, Sergei Karenin takes control of the hospital during the war. While tending to an injured colonel, Sergei searches for answers about his mother, Anna's sudden death.
After discovering the connection to his late mother, Sergei continues to listen to the Colonel Vronsky's story. Anna returns home, the young Vronsky following behind in hope to win her over; only to realize she's devoted to her husband and family. In time, romance buds between the young Vronsky and Anna.
Colonel Vronsky the pitfalls of the current war to Sergei and how he's still searching for and end to his story with Anna. The young Vronsky is criticized for his love affair with Anna, yet that is the least of their worries; Anna's pregnant.
The General visits the encampment to visit the injured Colonel Vronsky. Anna dreams the circumstances of her death will have to do with childbirth. Anna's husband, plans to take off for Moscow. On what seems to be Anna's deathbed, she is forgiven by her husband, but loses Vronsky.
While Anna miraculously begins to recover, Vronsky's brother persuades him to fight the war in Tashkent. Anna's guilt for her husband's charity reaches a tipping point. Anna's brother, Stiva, convinces Anna's husband to let her go.
Pressure grows on the young Vronsky as Anna continues to put off the finalization of her divorce. During a performance at the theatre, Anna is criticized by others in the noble society. Vronsky and Anna plan to move to Vronsky's family estate in the countryside.
Vronsky takes up a position in the congress, Anna feeling he's slowly drifting away. After a long time of waiting, Anna finally agrees to settle the divorce with her husband.
Stiva pleads with Anna's husband to settle their divorce, while Vronsky and Anna's relationship hits rock bottom. Anna's jealousy drives her mad. Enemy forces move in on Sergei's encampment, but Colonel Vronsky's tale has yet to be finished.
